"Blasphemy" is thinking that a 2 hour snuff film offers any ideas of any meaning regarding religion or theology. That was a much-needed send up of a film that did nothing, proves nothing, offers no serious points of dialogue or exploration of spiritual themes, and accomplished nothing but titillated the sadomasochistic urges of emotionally unstable people.

I find it exceptionally SAD that someone finds the need to gain their own self-worth by mocking the suffering of a loving God who's purpose was to provide salvation for all mankind. It's kind of like the bullies on the school playground that pick on the kids that won't fight back just so they can feel more important and impress their peers.

I find it funny, as we have taken a movie that went to extremes in the first place and just ratched up the comedy part of it.

That is a problem with movies; if you don't give an out for the audience, they laugh at inappropriate times.

hmmmm. why did you make me watch that??

regardless of whether you think jesus was the christ, or whether he existed at all, it's a documented historical fact that this exact kind of violence was inflicted on real people who may or may not have been guilty of the crimes for which they were accused. if you can watch this and laugh, you're sick.

anyway, here's my answer to the question...

definitely not funny. even for people who aren't christians, seeing that kind of violence in a comedic light can't be funny.

definitely violent.... but that's the nature of the beast, isn't it? it was violent before these jerks took it and made fun of it.

blasphemous? i don't know. i guess. but we can find blasphemy anywhere and everywhere....

having spent the majority of my life as a non-christian, i can still find humor in things that are not "of christ," including things that are borderline blasphemous. but this is just dumb.
