No, he's just got gingivitis. Have him see a dentist, get him a soft toothbrush, and encourage/remind him to brush regularly. Frequent mouthwash will help too. He should probably brush even more than x3 a day, until his condition improves. And he should brush GENTLY and SLOWLY. This will help avoid bleeding.
If his gingivitis was a sign of AIDS, he'd have a lot of other illnesses too. If you're concerned about HIV because of risky behavior, have him get tested. That's the only way to ease your mind.

Severe bleeding gums is more likely to be sign of peridontal disease. It is, however, quite serious and nothing to be left untreated. The latest research has shown that infections in gums and teeth get into the bloodstream, raise the level of inflammatory cells in the body and cause heart attacks (no matter the age). He needs to see his dentist, pront, and probably go on a course of antibiotics for gum infection.

The symptoms of gingivitis the gums are red and soft, and shiny, as well as swollen. They bleed easily, even from gentle brushing. Unless it is checked, gingivitis can eventually lead to destructive gum and bone disease. If you have not taken care of your teeth, and gingivitis has developed, see a dentist as soon as possible.

Sounds more like gum disease. He should go to a dentist or better yet a periodontist. If it's a really bad case, he may need gum surgery to remove the decaying tissue, otherwise he'll lose his teeth if untreated.

no..it means he probably has gingivitis.. or gum disease which can be treated by a dentist and good oral hygiene. He is fine, he just needs to see a dentist. In the meantime be sure he brushes his teeth well and flosses and uses a mouthwash like Listerine.

YES!!!! It's most definitely "the aids".
Run, don't walk, to the nearest bakery and start eating some chocolate cheesecake. Only THIS will make it go away.

If he hasn't been to a dentist in awhile to have his teeth cleaned, he could have gingivitis.
