Free spell checker at: http://www.iespell.com/
Another site is YourDictionary.com. It is free, and it includes a translator, along with a thesaurus, grammatical aids, etc. http://www.yourdictionary.com/
For the computer user that does not need all of Microsoft Word’s features, try Jarte 2.6 from Carolina Road. This is free word processing software made easy-- for basic, everyday stuff--like writing letters. Jarte 2.6 works on machines using Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, and XP.
Jarte is a smaller, compact word processing program than MS Word. The icons are large and colorful, so you can compose a letter in a few clicks.
Jarte also edits Word document, and you still get a spell checker and formatting tools,

Download OpenOffice.org - It has all that built-in.
OpenOffice.org is a free and open source office suite, including word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, vector drawing and database components. It is available for many different platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Unix-like systems with the X Window System including GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X. It is intended to be a compatible, free alternative to Microsoft Office. It supports the OpenDocument standard for data interchange.
OpenOffice.org is based on the codebase of StarOffice, an office suite developed by StarDivision (acquired by Sun Microsystems in August 1999). The source code of the suite was released as an open source project in July 2000 with the aim of breaking the market dominance of Microsoft Office by providing a lower-cost, high-quality, and open alternative. The source code for the application is available under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL).

IOnstall Microsoft Word. It is a cheap program and gives you all you need. I copy, print and fax from it as well as write letters and documents. The first long answer is correct of course, but I think you would like Word better and it can be purchased separate from Office cheaply.
