I have a scanner discone type radio antenna i want to install and to blend in with the surroundings i was going to paint it ! if i use lead free paint will it be ok ?

Its operation won't change a bit! At the frequencies scanner radios operate (below 1 GHz) the change in antenna impedance created by the paint will do nothing noticable. What will happen is the antenna will be de-tuned a little bit, but you'll never see anything change in your listening. Its one of those tekkie things .... not to worry. Worry instead about getting paint on your clothes while you paint the antenna.

Good luck! I'd favor blue paint ......

Believe it, or not. Adding insulation to the outside of an antenna (I.E. Paint) will change it's properties slightly. You have nothing to worry about with a Discone, since the effect will be quite small. At lower frequencies, the effect is quite noticeable.

Do you recommend radio transmitter antenna. As in CB radio. if its a fibre glass antenna no you cant. the acceptable component may be to sparkling it as acceptable you could. and spray it with a water proofing spray. a similar stuff that water info a tent. in case your speaking about an aluminium made antenna certain you could paint it. and in case your speaking about only an elementary radio FM antenna. only bypass purchase a sparkling one. they're inexpensive sufficient. desire this enables.

Should be fine but you can now get ones that automatically blend themselves into thier surroundings! superb! Ive had one for several months. I put down though and now I can't find it!!
