Are all the quotes in the bible inaccurate?

It's not as though the people writing the books of the bible were dictating away. They didn't sit there with pen in hand and go "Excuse me Jesus, could you say that again? I only got that first part. They wrote it years and years later. Now tell me honestly, think back to something your teachers in school told you years and years ago. Can you still recall to the point of accuracy exactly what they told you about any subject at all? I know I couldn't quote them accurately.

I would like to also add that at the time, what Jesus was doing was just being a good person and being a teacher. No one figured he was going to get nabbed by the Roman's and thrown on a cross there to die for our sins. I say this to state that it is unlike World War 2 in that is a traumatic event you will be paying a lot of attention to. Much like you are assuming they were listening to Jesus intently enough to remember it 10 years later after he was crucified. They probably figured him to be around for a long while.

The books of the New Testament were being written shortly after Jesus died. But even if they weren't people have good memories. With God helping the disciples to remember it is even more cause to believe it's accurate. Veterans from world war two can remember things that happened almost sixty years ago. They can remember what was said and what actually happened. My dad can anyway. When something important happens you always remember it. Everything else from that time is a blur unless for some reason something triggers a memory. The DaVince Code was a farce, it was pure fiction. Even on the History Channel the program Digging For The Truth showed how it could never have been true. I'd hate to be the author on Judgment day when he will have to face Jesus after attempting to lead Christians and potential Christians away from the truth. Before I gave my life to Christ and made a decision for him the Bible had to relevance to me at all. But afterword, it was like I could understand it, everything opened up. It was a miracle. The Bible is accurate, it is real, and it is much in need in this world.

I believe that at that time ,just like now,that when you tell someone something,things get lost in the translation. Sometimes people tend to embellish what really happened. I believe in God,but I do not believe word for word what other people had to say about what he said. A good example is the writings of Mathew,Mark,Luke,John. All of theirs views of the events leading up to the Last Supper were different. Doesn't make them wrong,but who was more accurate. We will never know.

I don't think ALL the quotes are inaccurate, but I believe most of them are. And you are correct about most people not having total recall. Accidentally deleting or inserting the word "not", for example, can completely alter the meaning of a sentence.
