Think soft colors to coordinate with the ivory dress. Ivory is not quite as bold as bright white, but it will coordinate with just about anything you want to do. I am getting married 2 weeks before her and using soft purples and greens, with accents of peach and other pretty spring/summer colors. Or why stick to just one color? She can go out with her bridesmaids and choose coordinating colored dresses and find ones that look the most flattering on them. A-line dresses look great on everyone, no matter what size. Or if she wants to go bold, the bridesmaids can wear black tea-length dresses and you can mix it up by varying the bouquets to really make those colors pop. And again, black is flattering on everyone. I've found lots of great ideas through www.davidsbridal.com, or www.theknot.com. Have fun!

i am maid of honor in a wedding in october.
my best friend (the bride) is wearing an ivory dress.
now since the wedding is in the evening (6pm), and in the fall, she wanted us to wear black (no complaints).
i would tell her to take in consideration what time of day her wedding is, what season it's in, what colors she thinks would compliment her bridesmaids, and what colors she wants to be in her wedding.
brown can be pretty and so can teal, i don't think i would do them together in one dress, but i would suggest for you (or whoever is the maid of honor) to round up the bridesmaids and the bride and go try on some samples.
you can go to any david's bridal (aka: bridal hell... i wouldn't buy a dress there if you paid me to, however it's convienent to go get ideas at) or store of the like and try on samples to get ideas of what styles and colors that the bride and bridesmaids like.
it's good for the bridesmaids to have an opinion too, not the end all say all, but to have a say since a) you have to buy the dress b) you will be wearing it, and she should want you to be happy.

Since the wedding is in the summer, she should have something that is light, like pink, peach, or a light orange color. But definately not teal or brown, those are too harsh for the summer.

She's having her wedding in the summer it would look nice to go with summer colors. David's bridal has a great selection of popular colors for this season such as pool, palm beach coral, lilac...etc. However, in the the wedding magazines and books that I've been reading they say to go with whatever colors you like no matter what time of year. You might want to check and see what kind of flowers are in season during this time and kind of coordinate with that. theweddingchannel.com is also really helpful. Good luck!

She could use the teal if those are her colors, or she could do pink, yellow, blue really any color she wants to have. She really has to make this decision because it is her wedding, lots of colors looks good. She could go looking and find one she likes the best.

Eeewww - don't like the idea of teal and brown together, but each separately with accent colours could be nice. Depending on how brave she is, teal with fuschia or hot pink would be nice, or maybe mint green if she is not. Within the browns family, mocha colors can be pretty nice.

The colors can be whatever she wants them to be. Her wedding is one of the most important days in her life. She should be able to use what ever colors she wants because if she just settles for something that looks better to someone else, she could be very disappointed in the long run.

I asked my bridesmaids what they thought of some dresses I picked out. Mine was a July wedding and we decided on an blue and white floral english garden type dress that was cotton. We got them from Victorias secret on sale for $50 each!

If she's looking for bridesmaides gowns to compliment hers, she should stay in the family of warm tones - deep peaches, foamy greens, buttery yellows. If her dress was a cooler silvery white, then she should look to cooler colors like lavendars, pinks and blues.
