Come on, admit it, this whole God Vs. Allah thing is getting OLD...
Let's revert back to the proper olden times where there were millions of gods and goddesses for everything...

Gods of music
goddesses of virginity
gods of war
goddesses of love and sex...

So much cooler are they then the ones we currently have?? (well that Indian chick with eight arms is pretty cool but she doesn't count)

We would be so busy rushing from one chapel to another depending on what we were doing that day, that no one would have a chance to get into wars about who'se god was bigger or harder or had a cooler beard or whatever.

So It starts here - once we have got enough people together we can start naming the new gods:
(eg., Brian the god of breakfast etc.,)...

LETS GO TO WORK

Ichi,
You suggest an idea which has been tried to death. I agree with you that modern religion has some major issues, but name one civilization that has survived and blossomed under the umbrella of a plethora of gods. Do you really want to live in a culture where they burn newborn children and sacrifice virgins, to appease some angry, non-existent god? Even the Roman Empire turned to monotheism as it was beginning to unravel. Under the system you propose, the priests have the authority to declare what worship consists of, and it can get pretty ugly. I feel that the issue is man-made religion, not the worship of God. When human beings truly seek out their Creator, and allow His Spirit to enter into their hearts, a marvelous transformation takes place, and the former mortal, takes on the personality traits of the Immortal. The petty values of materialism and fear, fall away, and love becomes the foundation of all choices. Please don't mistake the pathetic parade of religious posturing you see on the news, for true relationship with God. The union of man and God, is our only hope for species survival.

See, that's the problem..too many definitions of "god". Religion is a very profitable business thought up by humans, not gods. All religions teach about kindness and caring, but religion is the number one reason throughout human history to go do the most uncaring acts of unkindness: war. Having a strong education in science, I cannot fathom how anyone can go out at night, look up at the sky, think about all the complexities of the universe and not think that a "Creator" wasn't involved in making it all happen. I am an agnostic because there hasn't been a religion invented by mere mortals yet that defines the Creator properly. But, send me your religion's "bible/torah/koran/whatever" and I'll let you know if I want to sign up.

Uhhh - no. I do agree with you about the whole God vs. Allah thing: it is getting old. But to revert back to those days with millions of gods? Bah. Do you realize that that's one of the modern religions as well? In India, there is a different god for every person there. Polytheism still thrives, but whether ancient days or modern times, it is still false religion that leads to damnation. Grow up and stop trying to erase God from your life. You do so to your own damnation.

that Indian Chick with 8 arms is MATA DURGA. She is a symbol of strength,
a godess of punishing evil, trampling the evil and cutting off their heads.
She is also called KALI MAA, or MAHA KALI. In Bengal, Calcutta, people worship her mostly, as in rest of India.

We even have Ganesha, son of Shiva, who has a head of Elephant and body of Man, with a mouse as His pet.

We have Gods & Goddesses for Music, Peace, attainment, etc.in different forms, whom YOU WOULD CALL something like(No,not Chick, you already used that word) psycadellic art.

Persons blamishing others Gods have resulted in misery; heard of the Fatwa issued by the muslims on author Salman Rushdie?

Please, show respect when you talk of God, irrespective of the religion.

If you really want to get back to olden times, there is no place like Genesis chapter one. It says God (Elohim) created the heaven and the earth and man in His image. He created everything perfect and in His image.

Later on He appeared to Moses in a burning bush. At that time He gave His name. When Moses asked Him His name, God said:
"I AM THAT I AM".

God's name is I AM.

The goddesses of virginity, now that seems like a good role model !
Why not, except that I don't have enough imagination to believe in made up things (like god or any other deities), oh well.

(Jeff the God of biscuits)

It's a decent idea, but no matter what, as long as there is a God or something people believe in, someone else has a better one and is going to fight over it. I suppose the most we can do is be accepting, and hope eventually other people will as well.

So, your in a foxhole, mortars are dropping all around you, people are dying. You can't remember the name of the God you pray to that will get you out of this situation... Easier simply to say, "God, get me out of this and I promise I'll change my ways".
The whole religion thing is way to complicated already, keep it simple.

I don't think any religion, based on a physical goal, rather then a spiritual belief, is going to last too long.

Let's get rid of all gods, since they are imaginary nonsense anyway. We need fewer gods, not more.
