If your pug is only young,I can't see there being a problem. And a kitten would be best so they are brought up together. Any dog can be trained to accept a cat.
He is so cute by the way!!!!!!!

If your Pug knows the rules at home and you are the boss, you can safely introduce another small animal as long as you do it in the front room, and make it clear to your dog that this is yours.
Thats how I introduced my Jack Russell to Bert, the visiting Guinea Pig. Jack was a ratter, so you can understand that I was worried. Your dog will probably be fine, after he's got over the initial "you're not a dog". Just carry the kitten in and get down on the floor with the pair of them with the kitten on your lap, and be in a position the restrain the dog just in case of misunderstandings. Make sure the kitten has its own bed and knows where it is.
A word of warning; dogs often treat the contents of the litter tray as a snack dispenser.

Let them get use to each other, put the cat in a room and close the door, and let them smell each other under the door. Then after about an hour put the pug in the room that the cat was in, removing the cat of course, and let the pug get use to the cats smell. Watch it if you have a male cat, because he will probably start to spray on things to mark his territory, let the cat wander around the house getting use to the pugs smell.
Then after about an hour have the pug on one side of you, and the cat on the other side, and if you hear a hiss or growl tell them bad, no, no, exc. until they stop hissing and growling. it might take a couple of hours, but that is the way I got my dogs and cat use to each other. Good luck.

I brought in a young kitten while I had a pug. They play back and forth through the house, no issues. Once in a while one of them gets too rough and the dog usually gets the worst of it since the cat can get out of reach whenever she wants. I also have and outside cat which is my pug's favorite buddy. They curl up and nap together when the dog's out on his tether. So, at least in my case, they get along fine.

According to the site below, Pugs get on well with almost all animals.
http://www.pugpros.org/pugfacts.html
However, I suspect that if you get a cat or kitten who takes a dislike to your Pug it may cause problems in respect of injuries should the cat/kitten lash out (due to Pugs' large protruding eyes).
I think it's more a question as to whether the cat or kitten would get on with your Pug.

It depends on what sort of kitten you get as well as the dog.
Brindles or tabbies are very grumpy and don't like any other animals in the house. Even the young ones.
I would get a cat, from the CPA but make sure its a black and white for the best attitude.

My 9 month old male pug gets along fine with my 7 year old marmalade male kitty. Sometimes a little TOO fine - he likes humping the cat and unfortunately my poor cat has given up fighting it. I think he actually enjoys it now.

a trick from my local vet: let both pets sleep on a blanket or piece of fabric for a few days (keeping them apart for a few days)
then switch the blankets so both animals can get accustomed to each others scent without initial contact. If you put them together a few days later they are used to each other; and should cause no problems.

it really depends on the animals. it is no good to say your dog is friendly and loves cats,if you pair him up with a cat who is fearful or aggresive to dogs.... The best way is to take Pugsley with you to the rescue center and find his own kitten or cat.
