More than just a coffee purveyor, Starbucks indicates a lifestyle--walking around with a Starbucks coffee cup in your hand is putting out the message "I'm too busy to make it at home, the prices are outrageous but I can afford it, I'm in a big club with other very busy and important people who drink Starbucks", etc. It's a status symbol that has very little to do with the quality of the product. I prefer independent coffee places--the service is more personable and the pastries are much better than the cardboard cutouts that Starbucks serves.

Because they are complete suckers for a brand name.
Personally I can't cope with about 4 shots of coffee in each cup such as Starbucks cram in...don't like to feel my heart racing while I'm sitting still, it freaks me out...so I have the usual weaker granule coffee!

Starbucks is so over rated. If I need a cup while I am out I go to my local wawa's or 7-11, cheaper and it is good. Starbucks is way to expensive.

Their coffee is good, but it is expensive. I think a lot of the reason is that it is a fad. I, myself love coffee, cheap or expensive.
If you want real good coffee, Gloria Jeans has Starbucks beaten by a mile.

Because it's SOOOOOO yummy!! I LOVE Starbucks coffee!! If I could afford it, I would drink 3 White Chocolate Mochas every day!! But I can't, so I settle on one a week. :-(

Because we like it and also, we Brits tend to use instant coffee. I do personally because my percolator is too messy. You can't beat the taste of a strong, fresh coffee. Plus it's a bit of a treat. Plus it's trendy. Well, at least I'm honest! :-)

Because they are stupid enough to fall for the advertising;
What is the cost ? Around $3.00 per cupl Multiply that times 30 and look at what someone could buy with that; Multifply that per year. Talk about stupidity!!!
