Nope. It is up to the bride and groom to-be to decide who will be in their wedding and who they will be paired up with. Most of the time both wedding parties don't even know each other very well.

No, you do not have to be part of a couple to be in a wedding...in fact, generally those walking down the aisle (bridesmaids and groomsmen) are not...
The bride chooses her attendants...the groom chooses his...quite often those people won't even know one another prior to the wedding...

No not at all. This wedding isn't about you and who you are dating right now, it is about the bride and groom and the male and female friends that are closest to them. You will walk with whoever they pair you up with. Does not mean anything...

Actually, I think it is fairly seldom that the bridesMAID and corresponding groomsman are actually together as a couple. You do not have to have couples in the wedding party.

It isn't about being a couple. You are there for the bride not the boy you are walking down the aisle with.

No - you dont have to be dating. You dont even have to know eachother.
Its usually the bride that picks her bridesmaids and page-boys, and shes probably chosen your friend as you get on with him.

Not always of course. Depends on what the owner of the wedding wants for his lineup.
