Do not get worried There is an Old English saying. "infant can pass stool once in five days or five times a day". both are normal. Stool should be normal in consistency. Read the reference on normal stool frequency.

Don't panic and don't listen to those other idiots. All children are different and sometimes their digestive systems are not fully developed when they're born but do catch up quite normally. It has been known for babies to go as much as 3 weeks without a poo. If you ask your health visitor she will undoubtedly reassure you.
In the mean time you might like to try eating more fresh fruit and veg particularly grapes as this will pass through your milk. At 6 months it is safe to introduce low sugar drinks and/water (boiled)particularly during hot weather but he should be getting enough liquid from you. (although during hot weather he will be more thirsty than usual so to save your nipples you could try a baby cup- better than teats on a bottle if you want to carry on breast feading). Also try giving him a chunky slice of apple to suck on maybe? Carrot sticks are good too and these will be a forerunner to getting him used to solid food.
Good on you and keep it up! May I tactfully suggest that you ask for professional advice from a qualified person instead of risking getting the wrong advice on yahoo.

Hi, Please see a doctor, he is suppoed to have bowel movements everyday and maybe twice a day. I have a six month old also, my wife only breastfed for two days and couldn't, and now he is on soy milk, due to lactose intolarant.... and now we give him some water everyday, not just milk and food, and we have also started on baby cereal and food. He is at an age where he can start having other things... don't forget giving him water this will also help...

Yep, I think it's normal. My eldest son was exactly the same way. Breastmilk is more easily, completely digested and at 6 months old, your son's digestive tract is more mature and doesn't "waste" as much food. If he's urinating several times a day, doesn't seem uncomfortable and isn't straining when he does go, then he's fine. His BM frequency will pick up again as you start introducing solid foods.

i think of four-6 BM's is a touch plenty....i could call the Pediatrician and circulate over the infant's eating regimen and notice what has replaced. If the infant has too many BM's in an afternoon, the foodstuff are actually not getting absorbed interior the nutrition and can deliver approximately malnutrician...and a 5 month previous gets into intense concern before you notice it.

Hi, even if you are breastfeeding you still NEED to give him WATER. He should be having bowel movements every day, at LEAST two a day.
You also might want to contact a Dr. about this, because that is NOT normal. Good luck.

It is not normal. You have to give your son other foods along with breast feeding.Never stops br,feeding.Other food like cereals ,Sagoo,Rice with dal ,fruit juices etc.But keep in your mind that yuor son is only six month old and so you have to give liqid type food so that it will not chock his throat.Give plenty of water. Some times in the morning you can give 1/4 spoon of honey .Like this you start. In the evening take him out of home to get fresh air.

that is not good at all. He really should go every day esp. if he is on breastmilk. Please see a doctor in case he has a blockage or anything
