Must be New Zealand, QUANTAS. According to Rainman (Dustin Hoffman in the film of the same name ) he said that only Quantas never crashed.
How about that?

I see some one checked first instead of just believing in Hollywood as a source.

Mike Ra Swanson .. Just so you know Quanta's is the Australian National airline . That's why it has a Kangaroo on the tail fin.

Quanta's is safest . Not had a crash yet.

Qantas are not mentioned on Airdisaster.com but British airways seems to have the safest record of those listed.

It is true that Qantas have never had a fatality but they have certainly overrun the runway. see "Qantas Accident Exposes Weaknesses in Carrier Practices And Government Oversight" plus they only fly out of Queensland and Northern Terratories (hence Qantas).

The Australian national airline (which became QANTAs) certainly had it's fair share of fatalities.

A more realistic way of measuring the safety is to to determine how many fatalities per mile flown, BA would win hands down there (of the companies I can find stats for). plus they have good food. Their frequent flier program sucks though, I have only 40 "tier points" after two years of flying with them.

I can't find per country rates but the regional rates of "Hull loss per million flights" are as follows:

USA/Canada: 0.4
Latin America/Caribbean : 1.7
Africa: 12.3
Middle East:2.7
Europe: 0.7
China: 0.5
Asia: 1.7
Oceania(Australasia): 0.0

So your chances of getting on a flight globally that will crash resulting in a hull insurance write off are 0.74. These figures only apply to western built aircraft and don't include CIS built or operated planes.

Your lifetime odds of being killed in an air disaster 1:5704
Your lifetime odds of being killed in a car 1:228
Your lifetime odds of being killed in a three wheeled car 1:177,380

Statistics are tricky things

Qantas (no letter u), has the best safety record of any airline, they are an Australian company, so It's by airline rather than country, but if you need a country, I suppose it's Australia.
