class got out early and i wasn't there yet. The five year old went to "find Mommy" and seven year old went with to "keep her safe". Did find them about 1/2 block from home. we live in a small close knit community and there were over 50 people searching for them within 5 min, but i can't help but worry about what might have happened. I told them that they can't do that and so did the police officers, but how can i make them understand that what they did was wrong and that i will always be there to get them. I have never been late picking them up from anything.

Sure they weren't supposed to go off, but let's not forget what the underlined issue is. The class was let out early by whom? They are ultimately responsible for the welfare of your child (children) from the time you drop them off, until the time you pick them up.

I think the real question is why you weren't notified of this early dismissal in advanced.

I would have a sit down with the girls, see if you can get the Police to sit and talk to them with you as well , not going mad as them , but just saying how worried you were for them.

Also , I would have a long hard talk to the intructor, for even letting the 2 girls that age start walking home anyway. Most places working with kids ( especially here in Austraila ), have a safety conduct for the kids, where they have to get picked up .

They are still very small. Explain the concept behind kidnapping to them and ask their teacher to have an eye over them. If you are so close knt community? Why don,t you get parents whose children is also part of the classes, to take turns to stay there suring the training session and look after each others childre. Ha

um id switch tae kwon do places, if the teacher is letting them leave alone without a parant around, then i would be really worried. I would never leave my child in a place where the instructors will let the children leave with someone they dont know, let alone by them selves.

This is impossible!

How on earth did the instructor and staff allow this to happen!!

I am probably a thousand miles away and my blood is boiling!!

Have the police have along talk with the instructor and staff at this place !!
I can't even type any more, this is too much!!

try to give them small treats while picking them up, like an ice cream, tofee... so the next time they wont go because they will be missing a treat(make them understand that what they did was wrong. and tell them that if you wait for mommy , we can go out for a treat)

it might work or might not, cos i'm no expert

If the class got out early, it was the school's responsibility to make sure they stayed there. You are supposed to trust them with your child. I would be all up in arms with the people who run the class.

I dont know what you can do to be honest but, I'd certainly be asking their instructor why he let them go. I hope you find them both safe and well. Drive around the perimiters of the area, knock on every door, good luck.

Look, sometimes you gotta do what you have to do. Threaten to hit them and punish them for leaving. Period.

Sometimes, a child can't grasp a concept, so ou have to go to old faithful, a swat!
