when you burn something, it is transformed into something else. it's symbolic of rebirth.

People just have different preferences. It's not necessarily a religious thing. If you actually would look into what they offer at a funeral home there are numerous reasons why someone would chose to be cremated, or why someone would chose to have someone else cremated.
The few reasons I would include is price, it is the cheapest way to expose of a body. Second, maybe the person that has passed on really enjoyed one part of the world and wished to be there for all eternity. And third it might be a religious thing, although, most religions I know more about cremation is not in their standard.

Either they or loved one or neglected one, first they have to be disposed. Population is increasing tremendously. If all of the them started burying, then where will be the place to build Appartments & Business Centres & Insutries "Thinking econimical growth". Keeping the ashes of the bodies are just to keep them remember for ever. They were kept in sealed pots. Some people believe it to be religious. As far as I am concerned it is not religious

Personally, I want my body to be transformed into part of the living planet. Since the only legal way of being buried now is inside a coffin that doesn't deteriorate, the only way of doing this is to be burned and have my ashes spread.

Hell, I would have preferred to be burned and my ashes scatterred to some of my favorite mountains/lakes when I die. I'm too young too write a will, but I'll probably put that if I ever have to write one. (You wouldn't want to carry my unburned pieces to some distant mountain and bury a piece of me at every climb would you?)

BTW, if you live on the island of Komodo (or specially Flores), then you might prefer to be cremated than have your body buried and then dug up for consumption by a giant lizard as soon as everybody else leaves.

Here in Japan they burn the body and then sift thru the ashes to find bones and pass the bones from chopstick to chopstick down the line. Maybe it has to do with not much land for burial. Here it is not so much religious as it is traditional.

its not religious, its just some people do not want to be in the ground for ever. Sometimes people choose cremation because it is cheaper. The thought of being in a vase in the family home is a better thought than being berried in a box and put in the ground.

It doesn't have to be because of a certain religion. Though there are religions that prefer cremation. Some people just like to be able to take their loved ones with them when they move. Or some people don't want to be put in the ground. There are tons of reasons really.

It's called cremation, and is one of the oldest and most widespread funerary practises.

In some cultures it is a religious practise and consider the pious thing to do: Hindus, ancient Greeks and Romans all practise(d) cremation.

In modern times in the west people do it for a variety of reasons. For example, we cremated my grandmother because she had a terror of being eaten by worms.

It's called cremation and no, it's not a religious thing. The belief is once the body is no longer needed it matters not what happens to the "shell" because the soul is in Heaven.

After death, nothing matters ya ? What will happen if you keep the body? It will perish anyway - start smelling and so ugly and yakke to see. Better get rid of it as soon as possible ya ?

It's not religious, but a cultural practice - specially in the east.
