Think about the qualities YOU would like to have in a boss. Quiet, Calm, Confident, in control w/out being controling..., generous with praise & rewards, ... I teach my students the Nothing in Life is Free program but it is not meant to be regimented just guidelines! Excellent book "How to be the leader of the pack and have your dog love you for it" by Patricia Mcconnell

A dog needs a good leader. One that uses NILIF. Nothing in life is free. You need to show the dog that you are Alpha but do it with a firm but gentle hand. No hittiing, yelling, just loving leadership. A dog with a good leader is a balanced, well adjusted, happy dog. Check out the link I have in this post.

Honesty. If I tell my dog I am going to take him for a walk or a drive and I don't do it, he gets very upset and ignores me and will not eat until I take him out. If I am not honest with him he will let me know, so I believe my dog prefers honesty.
