I want a list of trees that not only consume very less water, grow very fast, hold soil from ersion, but also remain rooted for more than a century easily.

Trees all have different lifespans and growing conditions. Trees also need certain conditions in order to thrive. Certain species grow in certain places. What you need to plant to reduce eroision immediately is a cover crop of native grasses. Trees work as well, but even the fastest growing tree will not stabilize the soil as fast as a grass could.
And to the person who offered concrete as a solution- you must be joking. Concrete, pavement, etc adds to erosion more than any plant or lack of plant could. Water runs off of those solid surfaces in mass amounts and takes the soil with it. Did you know Sedimentation (soil particles) is the number one polluter of our planet's water? Concrete is the main reason for this.

that is a hard one, the conditions you mention generally rule out one another. pines grow quite fast, are long lived (so-so) but dont give much protection agains erosion.

are u sure you want trees??how about some permanent grassy stand - a meadow grows in a couple of years, stays there for ever, gives antierosion protection better than a forest and you can find some that needs little water. why dont you tell us what region you have in mind, that is important. introduction of non-native species can be deadly , like i have seen beautiful places destroyed by unthoughtful introduction of bamboo for erosion-control purposes... also ask yourself the question: what was the natural type of vegetation in the region you have in mind?

i hope this helps. if not - specify your question

Srihari, In order to answer this question you would need to know where in the world the trees were needed. If it was the tropics you would need different species for say a temperate. One type of tree that is widely grown in many different climates, although mostly in arid areas is Eucalyptus camaldulensis.
