I believe to get implants on should not go to a "Dentist" but to a Prosthodontist. You need someone who specializes in placing implants. My Prosthodontist has an I-Cat which is a CAT machine for the head. This makes sure your bone is healthy and where the nerves are.

I do not know Dr. Malo never heard of him. But I am totally pleased with mine which is Dr. Thomas Balshi of Fort Washington, PA

I have 8 implants on top and 6 on the bottom with a beautiful implant supported prosthesis that looks so natural.

Skeeter, prosthodontists are not trained to place implants. They're trained to RESTORE them, i.e. place the prosthetic tooth on to them.

Typically, periodontists and oral surgeons receive training in implant placement as pat of their residencies.

As a dentist who, at this time, does not place implants, I refer cases to the oral surgeon rather than the periodontist. Oral surgeons are vastly more educated and able to address the complications associated with implant placement.

Now, as a general dentist, I do plan on learning to place them myself as I've had a good deal of surgery training and am comfortable with surgery.
