Which of these five assault rifles really rocks?

1) The Russian Ak-47
2) The American M4A3 carbine
3) The Austrian Steyr-Aug .223
4) The French FAMAS

I aint really much of an assault rifle person...I'm more of a sniper person. Besides any rifle so long as it works is ok with me.
But if I have to choose...of the five you presented I'd go with either the AK-47 7.62mm or the Galil AR 7.62mm model. Both are really impressive and have shown good combat service but the AK-47 can carry more ammunition (30 shots typical but 40-round and even 75-round magazines designed for light-machine guns can be carried) and is very cheap and easy to produce, whereas the Galil 7.62mm only has 25-round magazines and is more expensive (though its reliabilty is reported to be good). Thus I will have to say the Russian Kalashnikov AK-47 (especially with a 75-shot drum magazine) really rocks.

The M4A3 carbine, Steyr-AUG, FAMAS and the Galil 5.56mm are also fine weapons believe me, otherwise no one would use them. But personally I have little faith in 5.56mm weaponry because they dont guarantee real stopping power especially with well-protected troopers (why do you think I prefer heavy sniper rifles like the Barrett 12.7mm M82 series?).

You forgot the British SA80 A2. Its a piece of crap, but while its working its allot of fun.

I prefer a 7.62mm over a 5.56mm any day, but the Steyr, which is also used by the Aussies, has a fantastic rate of fire and is very light.

AK= Ol' Faithful. M4A3 = Reliable but dull. FAM is pretty similar to the M4 in reliability and performance.

Ive not tried the IMI, but from all accounts its just a light weight AK.

I prefer 7.62mm over a 5.56mm any day. The Steyr, which is also used by the Aussies, has a fantastic rate of fire and is very light. I think it comes in both 7.62 and 5.56, and is as close to a weapon of the future as you can get with all that carbon fibre and crap.

If you want the ultimate rush try a 50cal....all I can say is OMFG!

American M4A3 or the Israeli IMI Galil others seemed to jam more frequently with consistent use while the two I chose did not.

Definitely the AK. Little bit of kick, but not too much. Rapid fire, but good handling. Really rugged gun. And besides, it just sounds so cool. Something about the recoil sound just sounds so bad to the bone. I've had a lot of fun with that gun. Try the AR-15 (M16) as well.

The AK-47 for durability and toughness. However, if i had to choose I'd go with the Steryr-Aug because of it's accuracy.
