My daughter started gaining weight once her adnoids and tonsils were removed. I have started cutting down on her portions and limiting her juice intake. She does drink a lot of water, but nothing seems to be working. I feel really bad because she gets teased a lot in school. After finding the snacks underneath her bed, I know I must do something right away. Any thoughts????

A lot of thoughts! Your daughter does not buy the groceries that are brought into the home, does she? You do! I consider this kind of behavior on your part abuse. You buy the junk and then are "so concerned" about her being fat. STOP BUYING THAT SH_T ! STOP BUYING FAST FOODS! Do not bring any junk food into the house at all. You're setting her up for failure and will definitely kill her with obesity. At 6, she's already hiding food and bingeing. What will she be doing at 12?? It's your responsibility to teach her proper nutrition..she is a baby! Do you want do doom her to a life of teasing and self-hatred, not to mention the health risks involved. Lady, you are killing your child. WAKE UP ! You need to get some counseling on good nutrition and also counseling on raising a healthy child.

I'd say trash the junk food, bring in the healthier food. Turn off the t.v. (parental locks-timer) and introduce her to the library, walking, beaches. parks, swimming. soccer. whatever. she's young so her metabolism is high she'll burn that excess in a few months-possibly weeks. the reason people tend to get fat is due to lack of education.

agree with gary! u have to keep healthy snacks in the house, but on one thing...let her have a snack of her choice from time to time. just not too much. talk to ur pediatrician and see if they have suggestions. eating healthy and staying active are the best things for all kids! not too much tv, video games or computer.
take care and just have fun with your daughter!
