Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli (who later became Pope Pius XII) was neither a Jesuit nor a Dominican. At the age of 18 he entered the Almo Capranica Seminary, thus later becoming a Diocesan Priest.

He was ordained to the sacred priesthood in 1899. In 1917 he became a Bishop and in 1929 he became Cardinal.

After the death of Pope Pius XI in 1939 he was elected Pope.
