You have already received some great answers about the importance of Jesus in your life. That feeling is placed their by God so we would know that there is no peace except through him. Those beers don't take away that feeling, nor drugs food or sex. Nor staring at the nature unless it's in giving thanks. Think about it you can be with a group of people and still feel lonely. You know that endless search of someone to know and understand us. That all comes to an end when you have an relationship with Jesus.

yes. and honestly, you got a right answer suggesting having a beer. take a puff if you are so inclined too, and get outside and look at nature, and feel the wind (ruach - same word in Hebrew as air and wind and Holy Spirit) - and just breathe..... in the ruach.
if you want some interactive God info on this - check the Book of Psalms. Most of it is David having the same feelings/wonderings you do - that everyone does - and he had conversations with God and basically asked everything you could ask about anything - the pains and trials - and joys of life. The fun thing is - he got Answers, and that's the Book of Psalms.
Take them like a vitamin. Either start from the beginning if your search is about logic and flow - or just put your finger randomly into the Book and pick the psalm you pointed to. you'd be very surprised if you don't get some comfort and Wisdom about the things that are bugging you.
they're fun bites to ponder whether you're particularly religious or not because you see inside the mind of King David who built Jerusalem according to YHVH's plan - and you get to read these intimate conversations he had with God.

Seriously, not since I ask Jesus to establish a relationship with me.

Yet, even with this, I allow my humanity to draw me into the well of darkened depths and I cannot even see my hand as I know I have surely placed it in front of my face. It is such a horrible place to be extended, knowing not where sides nor top nor bottom may be and if I'm close to any of these. But, where could I have found such a dark, loathsome place, why doesn't someone look for me here? Must I be ever in this suspension of nothingness that begins within me until it has overcome me? I think not, any longer, for God is higher than the highest, and will dwell lower than I can go low, and in this I find comfort, I am never alone anymore, even if allowing myself to stumble again into this abyss of blackness.

Never. When I was seventeen I experienced God directly. I can never feel that way again. I wish I could share it with you, but I'm not even religious (though I've studied every one I have encountered). I have no group, no book, no following (don't need it).
But I remember what it was like before that, and I understand. I'd relieve you of it, but you'd be surprised what it can lead to if you fill your mind with love for everyone and seek God with all your being, no matter how often you fail and find you can't find God.

I'm 45 (almost).

Simply talk to God, perhaps that's why you feel alone and empty. Instead of leaving God out of the equation, maintain some daily prayer time with Him. Dedicate some time aside everyday for Him. Ask him for guidance, and strength, and wisdom, and forgiveness, and just ask for help with whatever troubles you. Jesus always said "Ask and you shall recieve." Ask with a humbled heart and in all honesty. Set time aside everyday for Him..Don't leave Him out, go to Him when in trouble, and when you're happy. Find things in your life that you're thankful for, and thank Him for those things. Enjoy the life you've been given, and be thankful and humble with God. God will bless you when you least expect. Alot of people just don't talk to God anymore, and they wonder why they feel left out or empty. God will never abandon you, but you can always abandon God.

I think that if you take a moment and admire nature's beauty, no matter where you are, the bad feelings subside. No matter if its a great forest, or a small weed growing through the pavement, nature's strength and beauty is always comforting. Some people who feel it usually try to fill it with drugs, alcohol. sex, etc.....but are never successful...
