extermination is never a good idea(ask Hitler: if he knew he would have caused the current Israel issue I believe he would have certainly thought twice!!!)
Certainly people have abused religion to justify war, terror attacks, plunder, massacre more of these nice things.
But one must also take into account that religion has also inspired man to build great monuments, make all sorts of art and literature. It has elevated our philosophical knowledge. And kept man from playing God for quite some time.
I am not a religious guy But I do believe that religion has its' place
in society to educate man towards good ethics and morality

Who's life would be easier? Faith in a spiritual father, regardless of the "religion" is what helps us, as humans, find the goodness in our spirits. If, as you suggest, all religious people were exterminated, you would have a society based on anarchy, greedy and selfishness.
Hmm. Can you tell me how that would be much easier? And who would be helped?

That would leave no one on earth, because all people are religious about something - even if it isn't a faith based religion. It is such an over used and misused word.
Would it make life easier? For those of us who are assured of our salvation? Absolutely! We know heaven awaits us!
For those that it would in your mind hypothetically leave behind? No, someone would come up from somewhere and decide that something needed to be worshiped and then it would all be to do over again - religion. A very basic need of all human kind is a need to believe - to deny that need is to believe in the denial of that need. That in itself is a religion.

Now, THAT shows a seriously open-mind. It's not like it's clumping a group of people all together, or anything like that. And it's certainly not judgemental. Of course not.
There is good and bad in all of us, whether we're "religious" or not. I've met some amazing, caring, compassionate "religious" people, and I've also met some that gave new meaning to the word HYPOCRITE. Same with nonreligious people.
You really shouldn't judge. It makes you no better than anyone else.

everyone is religious, be it organized or atheistic. Spiritual hunger is a part of how we are designed and cannot be 'exterminated' unless all of us are done away with.
However, most people stop with religion and never seek truth.
Maybe religion without regards to absolute truth is empty and the search for God should go on until He shows us His face.

How about killing you for your beliefs? Comes down to the same thing doesn`t it? Except it`s kind of harder, because we`re talking about you, and not "the other people out there", who are just faceless concepts.
One thing, I`m not religious.
But I agree with another answer above that you will get attacked by religious people!
But it is true that *cough*cough* some religions are a pain.

Why be selective on extermination? sooner or later people are going to find something wrong with another set of people and they're going to exterminate them and so on and so forth. Why not wipe out the whole human race? That's the only way you're going to find your type of perfection and happiness based on your concepts.

On the face of it thats sounds like a good idea.
I stopped for a second and the thought came to me, how is religeon to be defined ?, hmmm, I have certain beliefs but I personally would not class them as religeous, spirtual possibly, but my point here is you or another may, and I dont think I wish to condemn myself on a nice sunny day and having things in my life to look forward to.
So on that basis I change my answer to no, doesnt mean I condone in any way of the ignorance and bigotry that seem to hand in hand with a 'benificient' God that is thrust at us here and elsewhere, but still no.

How would life be easier by murdering billions of people for religious reasons?
The problems of this world are not caused by religious people, the problems are caused by EVIL people, and anyone who wants to murder their fellow human beings just because they have a different viewpoint definitely falls into that category.
