According to the Bible, since we all sinned, we're condemned to death. Also it says that "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one" (Romans 3:10-12). Someone said that a person is not a sinnner because he steals, murders, commits adultery, etc; but a person steals, murders, commits adultery, etc, because he's a sinner. Sin is in us already since the day we're born. We're born with a selfish nature (just look at some babies and you'll see that even babies are selfish).

The next paragraphs I'll be paraphrizing what a pastor saiys:

We need to understand that there's a universal principle that says that the penalty for sin is death; therefore we all would be condemned because of our nature. God cannot change this principle.

God had warned Adam and Eve that if they disobeyed they would die. And that's exactly what they did, so now they were condemned to die. But, of course, they don't want to die, and God doesn't want them to die either before giving them another chance. However, the principle is there, sin deserves death, and they sinned. God's love is shown in His mercy and justice. He wants to forgive but at the same time He has to apply the penalty. After all, it is the Law, as perfect as Himself.

There's only one solution to this problem, and God had already considered it even before sin existed. Sinners could be forgiven but somebody had to take their place to fulfill the penalty. Jesus, who is God himself, comes to earth as a human being and lives a perfect life for us, the life we would never be able to live by ourselves. So since He obeyed in everything, He deserves eternal life. But since He's God, He's got life in Himself already. So now He offers us His righteous life as a man, and takes our penalty dying in our place.

We'd never be able to live a life as righteous as the one Jesus lived, because --as we learned-- we're born sinners, with a natural tendency to evil. Jesus is the only human being who has been born without sin, and He lived the righteous life we should live in order to be saved, and offers it to us. We don't have to do anything else for our salvation. Jesus made it all. The most difficult part, He's made it. All we have to do is to accept it, and let Him in our hearts so He can live His righteusness --the one we would never be able to get by ourselves-- in our own lives everyday.

Religion itself doesn't save, if you don't get to know the Person who makes salvation a reality. "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (John 17:3).

In other part of the Bible, Jesus said that if we love Him, we shall keep His Commandments (read Exodus 20). The only way we can keep them is by letting Jesus change our evil nature by His nature, give us the strength to keep by His side all the time.

Hell is the common grave for all mankind, not a place of firey torment as some religions would have people believe. Since all people are born in sin, we would all wind up there if it weren't for the fact that Jesus died in our places. Therefore, we have a choice to love God and our neighbor and do the best we possibly can and live forever or do whatever we want and die. The Bible says there is no conciousness after death, so even if there was a place of firey torment, humans could not experience it after death.

Religion is the spiritual force that keeps you typing. It had cavemen rubbing (2) sticks together. It is the energy inside us that make us seperate from the critters. Those that don't agree that it exists still curiously belive in sympathetic magic, and will agree to participate in our culture of cooperation and goodwill. They believe it, but will not acknowldge it to the public because they have not accepted becuase they don't think it's cool.

We were born into sin. We are not perfect. We are all set to go to hell. However, we have a choice not to.

Do not assume the voice of man is not the same voice heard in other religions. However, you are partly right. You can't assume it is.

There were a bunch of women that told the Jews and the Romans, "Don't kill my kid! Play nice!" I think if you can't do that, you can go to hell. :)

The only people going to heaven might be easier to answer for you are those who have accepted Jesus Christ as the only begotten son of God, who died to pay the wages of sin for all humanity, and now resides at the right hand of the Father and by whom all persons will bow and recognize him as King of kings and Lord of lords and to have followed any other gospel (truth) will be to have been led from the gates of heaven. Jesus Christ is not a religion, it is a relationship.

You're half right and half wrong.

See, it's actually just the Christians who think if you don't follow their beliefs you're going to hell. However, within Christianity people can't seem to agree on which sect is the true way. So, every sect thinks the other sect is going to hell and vice versa.

Its so silly it hurts.

The Bible says that the borders of hell are being enlarged because the number of people that are going there is increasing so much.

Read the King James Version of the Holy Bible to find the TRUTH.

Out of 100% beliefs, if a person does 51% good, then he/she stands clear chance to go to Heaven. The remaining 49% have to make ammends in the current life, to gain a seat up there.

Only God knows. Not every religion teaches that a follower will go to hell.

Seems to be a fundamental flaw in the religious argument somewhere. Don't forget though that they all argue that their particular god is real and their rituals are truely handed down from their mythical one true god. It's only all the others that are fake.
