Its easier than you think to deal with your yourself and your feelings than you think, even in difficult times.

People have a destructive habit of making things more difficult for ourselves than we should.

Ignorance and closemindedness are destructive mindsets

Spiritualism, Sufism,Mysticism, search for Nirvaan, quest for the last in the life-cycle(transmigration of Soul through many births), Mukti, Salvation ...Beatification etc is not everyone's salt. Though all humans have a Soul, yet few have the 'taste' for self-actualisation. Not a fault. Most do not have 'the taste' like many have no taste for poetry, or for Football. So, kindly rest in peace. Donot worry about others. That was the assignment given to the most highly exalted of humanity_ the Holy Messengers/Prophets. Your assignment is for your own-self first. And a mere Love is not the-all. God has innumerable Divine Attributes, Love(AlWadood in Arabic) is only one of the Attribute. Knowledge of God and developing an ability to live Godly is the Task on the Way. A lesson in Sufism is to taste death before the death. To be reassured by His Mercy than by His Love. Mere L O V E is no replacement for ignoring the Commandments in our moment to moment living. It is being in a mirage if there be the belief that there shall be no judgement of our deeds. And that Love shall save us...disregarding the deeds. Religious spirituality is not like do-it-yourself craft.**** May we continue to share our thoughts and, perhaps, experiences too !

firstly before i answered your question i read what you wrote about yourself and found it fascinating it's obvious that, by some of the answers you have here, people don't do that
i feel I'm 'spiritually aware' as you put it and i agree with what you say but spirituality comes in many shapes and forms there's those who, for a price, will 'contact' the spirits for you and i have proven a lot of that is so mmmmm i think the word is 'crap'.
Then there is the religion side, me personally, don't no longer believe in the so called presence people call God although i still respect peoples faith and understand why they would follow such a idea.
But then there is the self spirituality which i feel i belong to, i find my limits in life and see people and things for what they they are, i see good in all things and even most people but their are limits to what i accept, as you say why are people so destructive etc, I'm sorry to say that is our society of today.
The children of today have no respect for other people or property because they have no discipline in their homes or schools, then there is the older 'children' , they lead the younger ones into this disrespect and destructiveness so the cycle goes on.
I'm glad that i won't be around much longer to see this world destroy itself because that is what i can see is going to happen.

You seem to be inferring that spirtuality can often, or always, help to "deal with your yourself and your feelings" -- this is often not the case.

Often, spirituality makes things more difficult for people; particularly when that spirituality is presented via religion.

Many religious zealots, who believe that spirituality holds all the answers, are closed minded and ignorant. This can be destructive, particularly due to ideas like "religious teachings are right", "God is infallible", "the bible represents the true word of God" etc. (Speaking specifically of some Christians here, becaus that is what I am familiar with.) Religious zealots take these ideas on board and believe that if they read the bible, they know the true word of God and that word is infallible. This leads them to the false conclusion that they are always right, and subsequently they may feel justified in forcing their beliefs on others.

Based on your question, it sounds like this is what you would like to do. Tread carefully, and think about the vast array of secular human experience before you generalise about spiritual awareness.

First off you need to talk to someone. Not so much because you are crazy but talking helps get it out in the open. When it is out in the open then you can step back and examine it. As long as you keep it inside it will eat away at you, eventually causing deep depression and emotional stress. I also believe in meditation. You need time by yourself to clear your thoughts. I would suggest talking to some one then an hour of meditation after each discussion. You need to open your soul, that is a connection between where we are now and where we came from. How old you are and what environment you are in has a lot to do with your life. Forgiveness has a lot to do with your state of mind. You must learn how to forgive and live with your past. Don't live in the past, just learn how to forgive and let go.

Perhaps what you perceive as "reluctance" is a lack of "readiness" for a person's Spiritual evolution? Aside from the fact that each of us becomes "Spiritually aware" when the time is correct to do so, there is one's Fate Karma to consider. Those individuals with a heavy load of Karma to work through in this life cannot become "Spiritually aware"... otherwise they would not engage in the activity they need to do for their own experiential growth.

From my point of view, religion has caused far more problems than it has solved. I don't want to be sucked into that world. I'm agnostic and happy. If there is a god, he's not running my life. My life is my own, and only I can change things in it. Problems that I have are my problems, not his. I'm not going to run crying to my mum and dad when things get tough, so why should I run crying to god?

I'm not a selfish or nasty guy, I'm a nice guy. I'll help my friends and family when they have problems, but I don't expect them to want my help with every little thing. The best way to solve a problem and learn from it is to try to solve it yourself, not get someone else to do it for you.

People are afraid to face the truth and let go of past notions. We are taught as children to follow, not be independent and figure things out for ourselves. There is also fear of the unknown. Fear of discovering lies and not being able to find truth. In some religions people are told they will go to hell if they deny God so they dare not consider the possibilty that there is anything else to look for outside their religious practice and they never become aware of their own individual spirituality.

The answer is depravity.
This is the inability to call on the name of God. If it were not for the help of God no one could turn to Him for help.
Satan literally has his hands over your ears and eyes to blind you from God's presence.

If you will sincerely pray for Jesus to come into your life and to forgive you from sin He will open your eyes. He will enable you to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will instruct you and guide you in the ways of God.

The people who do not know God are not entirely at fault for not calling on Jesus. The truth is they can't do it without help from God. They are deceived by the counterfeit gospel of Satan. Satan has distracted and deceived each person into believing the blood of Christ to be meaningless.

Break the bonds he has on you and call on the name of Jesus. Do it sincerely and you Will never be the same again.

Spirituality is welcoming, except when people force others into it.

Additionally, science is playing a larger role in contemporary society, where it cures diseases, solves food issues, and has allowed humans to evolve and develop tremendously.

Science is like the new "spiritual awareness."
