Expiration dates are used to tell the consumer that the particular product is recomended to not be used on or after the date that is stated. So basically, no it is not particularly safe to use birth control that has expired. This especially applies to condoms, BC pills, spermicides and lotions.

I would not risk it. The date is put on there because that is when the birth control is starting to lose it's effectiveness. Each day past the expiration date decreases it protective abilities. Please see your gynecologist for a new prescription or, if you are using an otc preparation, buy a new one.

I assume you are talking about the pill? As with any medication with expirations, those dates are when the efficacy starts to wane. So you would be taking chances to take it. As far as if it is unsafe in terms of hurting you, probably not, but not really known.

No...the chemical and preservatives in BC breakdown after a specified period of time, causing them to interact improperly with the body and therefore becoming unefective.

i have been told by all doctors to throw out all meds if they r past date because they won't work correctly if at all.
