she has been having bloody discharge more brown than bloody, like stringgy also. its messy. is this normal? my dog katie ahd 2 litters and never had this?

Perhaps Katie kept her bottom cleaner. The discharge is normal, and can last for 3 weeks or so... Just be sure to take her temp if she begins acting funny, as if there is an infection she will run a temp over 102.8
They have a lot of 'cleaning out' to do, just as human moms do after birthing.

Chetco and Okiewenee are very much right. The rest of the uterine lining, etc. still needs to clean out. And yes, some dogs are messier about it than others. Just be sure to watch her temp for signs of infection. She *should* have an after-whelp vet check.

This is not normal.
She needs to be seen by a vet. Soon, this could be an infection that will get worse and threaten her life.
There should be no more discharge after about 24 hrs.

Might be just some left over after birth material. I would take her to the vet just to make sure she's okay.

this is normal and last for 2 to 3 weeks. But for your piece of mind have your vet check her.

I noticed it coming from my friends dog several days after she gave birth. if it has an odor then there may be a problem. just call your vet and ask them.
