Sometimes, but it really depends on your audience. The touchy point to me seems to be that there are a number of religious paths that teach that their way is the _only_ right way. In my experience, it is difficult to engage in logical discourse with a person about something that they "know for a fact" is not the right way of thinking. At the same time, I've run into some very switched-on individuals who are quite willing to rationally discuss the pros and cons of something, even if they feel it to be fundamentally wrong.

Well, I've seen some people ask some questions that they obviously tried their hardest not to offend anyone, and yet someone always takes offense. I'll admit, I get offended by certain topics, mostly just because it's certain closed minded people that bring up the topics, usually Christians, but allot of Christians are open minded and I appreciate that. I've been offended by some Atheists, but not very often. I've never been offended by an Agnostic, or someone from any Mystical based religion. I think they tend to be the most open minded.

It largely depends on you if you are the one asking. If you ask for information only, then ask away and form your own opinion privately. If you are asked a question about religion be sure you know what you're taliking about and have reliable references. You will never CONVINCE anyone or PERSUADE anyone you just give them what you have and most intelligent people won't be offended. Those that you do offend would be that way about the weather or the best all-time rusher in the NFL or the best recipe for Chocolate Chip cookies. You know the saying, it goes someting like this..."You can please all of the people some of the time and you can please some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time".

Yes it is possible. But that would be boring. It is more fun to get under their skin and maybe get them to really think about what they are doing. This site is a hilarious war of opinions that never ends and no one ever tries to see the others point of view. It just points out how this society will never truly flourish until religion is destroyed

I always strive for it, but I would put money on it that hardly anyone can pull it off. I've seen people give answers to intentionally offend people with opposing religious viewpoints. It's immature and does not contribute to any discussion, it simply proves they are idiots who can only get pleasure by making themselves feel superior in their beliefs.

Bwian: WHY....? Everard: cos we a-theists could like human beings to bounce out from their caves of Darkness and concern and luxuriate in fact for its very own sake... with none want for reward or punishment in some mythical 'right here-after'. Christianity, like a number of different faith concerning invisible area chappies, is only an anaesthetic to help the peasants get with the aid of a existence without desiring to confront fact; invisible area ‘gods’ have been invented to maintain the peasants occupied lest they recognize it is all there is… and circulate mad. ~

Definitely possible. Your question has to be in a form that does not sound pushy or sarcastic. On the other hand, the answer should look at the question with an open mind so he/she does not answer in a pushy and/or sarcastic tone too.

Good luck. It's like trying to ask a question or make a true statement about another race - even though what you are say ing may be true, and you have the facts to back it up, you'll still be labeled a racist.
