I mean when people talk about fate it sounds a lot like religion just a lighter version, they are putting their lives to the power of some “thing” to make all the decisions and explain all situations and out comes.
For example “why did this person have to die?” religion would say god willed it to be, a “fate” person would say its fate, it was his time, as if it was predetermined, is it really so depressing to think that this person died because of completely random and uncontrolled events that could have easily been stopped

to RKM by uncontrolled I meant that it, could of not happened as easily as it did, meaning not fate but each random (by random I mean peoples (life) knock on effect on each other) event leading to another, obviously you cant stop them from happening because you would need to time travel but I mean that they weren’t controlled by any thing higher than us humans and since we cant see the big picture of our decisions knock on effect (because you cant see the future) and out come of actions they are out of control and that is very hard for people to deal, maybe fate is the only way for people to be ok with how little control we have of our lives

I think answering question from religious or spritual view point is useless. However, a socio-psychological explanation could be:
a) It is a mechanism to give peace to mind that it was all pre-decided. I.e., blame something else.
b) It is a mechanism to surrender to ultimate power to show that while as human beings we don't know what lies ahead, but someone ultimate as GOD knows everything.
c) People believe in cause and effect theroy which is fundamental for KARMA principles. So anything that happens has a reason.

what you need to appreciate:
a) Random is our definition because we can't relate to specific event based on any scientific explanation.
b) Uncontrolled: If it could have been stopped, it is no more uncontrolled.
c) Stopping the events: Karma theory says that unless adequate price is paid (which is not money but right course of action), what is going to happen is determined based on existing effect of KARMA. So event could have been stopped but that takes a lot to change the fate. When we don't have guts to take it, we say, leave it to fate.

On top of that, i think it is true that to lot, it it very scary to believe that there is nothing like GOD or superpower and noone is above human being. So once we die, everything ends, right then, right there.

Personally I do not believe in fate. I find it a very depressing concept.

It reduces us to just pieces on a chess board, guided by some unseen hand.

There can be no evil or good as we are only doing what we are predestined to do. Hitler was not evil, the holocaust was just something he was destined to do. The paedophile who rapes and kills a child is only following his preplanned destiny.

Even if we believe in fate it does not benefit us, except in that it allows us to abdicate our own responsibility for the choices we make that affect our own lives and the lives of those around us. Even with fate we have no better idea what lies ahead than without it. I could live to be a hundred or be killed tomorrow by a speeding motorist and I do not know which until it happens, fate or no fate..

I much prefer the notion of free will, that I make choices and I am responsible for the result of those choices.

In my reality the murderer of a child is responsible for his actions and they should be punished accordingly. If fate rules why do we punish the murderer? Surely responsibility for his actions lies with that unseen hand.

The future is not random and uncontrolled. For good or ill we make our own future and each individual can make a difference.

You have touched a subject, on which much has been said, by many.

I will express my point of view. It may not necessarily be the right one. But, I hope it will help you in some way.

I firmly believe in "Free-Will". If I don't, nothing would inspire me to go on, in this life, which half the time does not make any sense.

Does it mean that we have the power to control the events? Is their no "Destiny".

I also believe is "Destiny".

The two concepts are self contradictory in a sense, that if one could control the events, then they cannot be pre-determined.

Yet, I think that the two concepts can co-exist.

There is concept of "karma" which shapes the destiny. The broad pattern of life is decided by one's "karma". But, we have this so powerful "free-will" to change the events. It is mind over matter.

So when people refer to fate, it is easier for them to answer the unexplained. It also helps them to move on with life.

Don't ever stop believing in your "free will". As you move on in your life, you will keep getting answers to your questions.......

Don't put too much store in fate b/c we have been given the free will to alter our destinies, HOWEVER God (if u believe in Him) has an ideal plan for our lives, and He wants us to live in His perfect will, but He also knows that we, being humans, will mess that up w/ our free will, but He tries 2 keep us there and wants us to stay in His perfect will... Sometimes, even though He has a plan for us, we forget to do something or use our free will to try a different path and we open up the doors for Satan to come and get us... I know it seems weird and complicated, I don't even understand it completely, but you can't live constantly thinking about whether "fate" will intervene and ur gonna die in the next hour... That DOES make life depressing and scary... You just have to LIVE LIFE... You can't enjoy it if you worry all the time...

Nothing is ever an accident. On investigation there is always a domino effect that leads to an outcome. We each have the power to make choices...Everything from parents with defective genes or family history recklessly breeding, to simple irresponsibles. Forget the religious for a minute. People who believe in fate are usually those who sit back and make no effort to control their behaviour, and/or secure their future or surroundings.
Take it from me - one thing in life I have found - the harder I work, the 'luckier' I get.

We have Free Will, like everyone else. But all our actions have a knock on effect. What I do, what my friends do, what my partner does all lead to a sequence of events that may affect people in one way or the other. How often do you hear the saddest two words ever spoken? "If Only"
If it is written, it is written.

I do not believe in fate. I do not believe that our "destiny" is predetermined. I believe that we are the authors of our own reality and that we attract our experiences into our existance through the power of the universal law of attraction.

This is the free will given to us by God.

The universal law of attraction maintains that the vibrations that we emit into the world, via our conscious or unconscious beliefs, thoughts, emotions, words (written and verbal) and actions and whether they are positive or negative, love-based or fear-based, lead to the events that we experience in return, in one form or another. These vibrations occur singly, by individuals and collectively, by societies and cultures.

I'm a Christian, and we believe that God plans out everything in our lives. Therefore, changes are scary, God planned them for a reason. Its not accidental, or chosen randomly. At all! Of course, in the human's point of view, we just call it fate.
