None, it is a nasty addiction that is very hard for some of us to quit.

Nicotine is a stimulate. People who are used to it, need their ciggy 'fix' to help them operate, handle stress, etc.

I've known very smart people who strangely, think their best, when dragging on their joints. Personally, I found light smoking (a stick or 2) to be useful when I'm a little tipsy after having alcholic drinks.

Others, especially the young ones, get a self-reinforcing macho-feeling when smoking. I call this the legacy of the Malboro Man image, and the 'rebel without a cause' phase that our adolescence go through and some of whom unfortunately carry through to their adulthood.

I've known quite a number of chain smokers who stopped suddenly without treatment, after having kids or encountering other significant changes in their lives. For these people, willpower was an advantage but the key message is that smoking is something that we can do without.

Well, having smoked for the past few years now (aware of every risk involved...but addicted, nonetheless) I can tell you that once the nicotene hits your brain (in 15 seconds) you just settle into the smoke. Smoking allows LESS oxygen to get to your brain and other areas...and if you smoke menthols, they give you more of a rush. Sure, it makes you stink...but after smoking for so long, you just don't care! What made me begin?? I liked the smell of other people's smoke...so finally, I asked my friend for a Newport...and since then, I've switched from those to Marlboro Reds, Marlboro Lights, Camel Turkish Golds, Camel Jades, and several other assorted brands...

I'm quitting again...hopefully for good...but it's harder than quitting heroin, they say.

My best friends here in Seattle are heavy smokers. And they don't get enjoyment out of it. They know it'll cause cancer and kill them and they try to stop. What they get out of it though is relief from stress. Smoking cigarettes calms them down quite a bit, I must say. That's what I've witnessed.

It's calming, largely for two reasons:
-ritual
-deep breaths

People often gain comfort from repetitive habits (although with cigarettes, it can be involuntary, in that they're addictive).

And, as you probably know, taking long, slow, deep breaths is a good way to calm down. That's exactly what a person does when smoking.

About the same enjoyment as you get from asking this silly question.
Have (if you can) great sex(hopefully with the opposite sex) and then lite up a cig after you and her have reached that feeling of enjoyment(if ya know what I mean)...lol...
Truthfully, no enjoyment just satisfaction. I guess Mick couldn't get a cig?............Deep.......e-mail me if ya get it!

it soothes nerves that you didn't have before you started. it gives a small kick,it can be part of a psychological time out break, something to pass the time when driving, something to do with your hands while speaking,or many things for many people. basically its just an escapist moment

a tiny feeling of light-headed-euphoria, if it's been awhile. other than that, to get rid of the need but it always comes back. not really worth it. plus it stinks.
