do guys know that a girl like them when she acts like she doesn't?

I'm a very shy girl, plus im new to the school. there's this guy who likes me and he did try to talk to me but i just ignored him. don't get me wrong, i like him,too.alot.but it seems like the more i like him, the more i have to act like i dont like him at all.i guess it's because im too shy. i don't often give him any attention like i try not to look at him and stuff. the other day when he tried to talk to me, i said i had to go and kinda like " ran away".i know it sucks .i hate it.what should i so?i guess he's tired of it now. he doesn't try to approach me anymore but he still looks at me and stuff ,u know. im confused.does he still like me?and what should i do now?i've just been here for abt 6 months and just go to school for abt 3 months.i guess people think im kinda strange, wierd, quiet, stuff like that..i don't know, i add it if it could help to answer my question.thanks a lot! i really like him.

when he looks at you simply smile.

When you feel you can speak to him just say "It is hard for me to speak with people until I know them."

He may well understand.

by the way you acted, i'd say no he doesn't know you like him
you can try looking at him and smile more often
if you think he likes you, then try hang around him more often, be near him, dont' have to talk to him maybe he'll start a conversation again
oh ya don't try to run away next time, at least talk for a bit, even if it's for 10 seconds, then when you're leaving give him a smile for him to remember
i don't think you're weird at all, in fact, i am a shy person too, and i get discouraged if i talked to a girl she responds the way you did, so seize the moment if you have it

He may think you don't like him. Smile at him and say hi. Give him a hint that you do notice him. And if he comes up to you chat with him a little. I think he still likes you but doesn't know how to approach anymore. Good luck!
