I recently got four piercings. Recently, as in five days ago. I got my traguses, and an antihelix orbital. The traguses hurt more during the piercing process, but I can't even feel them now. The orbital didn't hurt at all going in, but now it throbs and the slightest touch brings excruciating pain. This makes cleaning 2-3 times a day quite dreadful.
This is my first experience with non-lobe piercings. I understand that there is less skin and nerve in the tragus than in the thinner cartilage, but should my orbital hurt so much? Perhaps it is infected? I do not sleep on it. I use GermX on my hands and H2Ocean to clean it 3 times a day. Is this pain normal? It's unbearable, almost to the point of me removing it and wasting 50$.
Perhaps I should return to my piercer and ask? Any suggestions would be awesome.Thanks.

You're correct in returning to the piercer to get their advice.

I suspect that the one you can barely touch to clean around will have to be removed.

I've seen some nasty pinna infections from people persevering with infected ear piercings. It doesn't take long for an infection to develop. However, yours may not be infected. The really painful orbital one may just be in a position that doesn't suit you.

Go back and ask the piercing practitioners advice.

Good luck!

Infected.

Don't even gamble on this one.

If the piercings are "irritated", then that means you have allergy to something in the piercing, which should not be the case if the piercings were FDA approved. (Yes, the FDA approves piercings.)

You have an infection. Get the damned thing out, get to a doctor. Piercing infections can be VERY SERIOUS.

Also.. a few questions about the piercer.

If your juristiction requires it, does s/he have a license to pierce?
Was s/he wearing latex gloves to prevent disease transmission?
Was the general environment clean?

If you answer "no" to any of these questions, you've probably got a problem.

Regardless, your piercer isn't where you should go: HEAD TO A DOCTOR NOW.

If I were you, I would go back to my piercer and ask them what to do. Don't remove the piercing until you talk to them. So that means you need to go first thing in the morning.

I mean considering the fact that you clean it properly 2-3 times a day, it could just be irritated. But I would have the piercer check it to make sure.

don't remove them... removing them will close the hole and pus will start collecting and it'll become a ball.. i've seen that happen to people.. it's gross.. .just leave it alone.. put some of that oxide stuff and leave it alone.. stop touching it. 2-3 times a day? Woah that's insane... you shouldn't be touching it that much.. Just don't remove it! unless it's too much and you can't stand it anymore.. :P

OOooh put some neosporin <--i know this is a big typo but you know what i mean lol.. use it ! I hear it's good because it treats infections and all... i also heared that using alcohol is bad since your skin will start healing around the jewelry. .

You should put peroxide or the cleaning solution they gave you on a cotton ball or Q-tip and clean your ears in the morning and at night. Also, twist the earrings so your skin won't close up. If you do start to notice a scab or wound then put on some Neosporin cream. It should clear up in about a week.

I would suggest first of all to go to the doctor. It's better to be safe than sorry. Piercings can create very serious problems if not done properly and if they become affected.

I've attached some links about piercings below. Please review them as they tell you about healing times for specific areas, problems to look for and what you should do.

And please don't listen to Ginger B, Peroxide is one of the WORST things to put on a piercing. Don't ignore it, you can get seriously ill.

I think the best solution would be to call or go give your piercer a visit. He would be the best to advise you on something this delicate.
