So, I am fairly irked that people are still so ignorant to think that Wicca is the same thing as Satanism. Similarities were listed such as both use the pentacle and magickal practices.

For one, not only do Satanists use the inverted Wiccan Pentacle, they also use the inverted cross. So, does that mean that Christians are Satanists?

Also, Wiccans and Satanists aren't the only ones to practice Magick. Ever make a wish on a falling star, or blow out a candle on a birthday cake? Those are both magick rituals that pre-date Christianity.

If you are so Christian, I suggest you stop putting up Christmas trees (aka Yule trees), stop making wishes, and for goodness sakes stop dying Easter eggs because those are all "evil" Pagan practices.

Yay, thank you for making such a coherent and logical argument! I am very tired of being called a Satanist.

Christians, you would also have to give up Halloween.

Also, the Masons use an inverted pentacle. Before it was satanic, it was Christian.

My mother is a devout Catholic. I was raised as such. What Christians are blind to are traditions like Christmas/Yule trees and Halloween/All Hallows Eve jack-o-lanterns. The thing that really made me laugh was over Spring Break this year. Last year Easter fell on the last Sunday of Spring Break, so the Outer Banks of North Carolina were open and busy. This year, Easter was later in the month, so most things were closed. When the whole timing of Easter was brought up, this was my mom's answer (to my best recall): "Easter is different every year because the timing is based on being a certain number of days after the Spring equinox." Um, Easter, a primary Christian celebration is based on a primary pagan holiday. Interesting. And as far as Satanists being Wiccan, well, that is truly the Chrisitan way of making pagans look bad. When Constantine started up his Christianity craze, he had to find some way to convert people to his religion, so he called any non-Christian practioner a Satanist and, in truth, Constantine created the whole concept of the Devil as he is recognized today. But that is an argument I know I will never win and therefore only scoff when my devout Catholic mother points out how her religion is centered around mine.

Don't forget that Christians (well, Catholics) use the inverted cross, too, as a symbol of St. Peter's crucifixion. I was taken aback a bit after seeing one of them engraved on the Pope's throne thing.

But anyway, I would say, don't let everyone's ignorance irk you so badly, or else you'll never be in a good mood again. People see Star-With-Circle, and they don't care what it means, who uses it, or why......all they see is Star-With-Circle-Stereotype = Evil Person. And yup, according to the average joe, there really ain't much difference between Wicca and Satanism, because the average joe is incredibly lazy and doesn't care enough to elevate himself out of his closed-minded little world.

You can try to elevate some, and you might even succeed, but ultimately, it's a futile task.

Now you're the one who needs to learn something. Satanists - as in, those who belong to a recognized Satanist church - DO NOT use an inverted cross, or any cross for that matter. Those are 'Hollywood' Satanists - i.e., the ones you see in movies, or people dumb enough to think that's what Satanism is about. Real Satanists don't worship anything; they'd only hang an inverted cross too screw with someones mind.

You might also want to look up the concept of 'compare and contrast' - usually taught in about 4th grade around here. Pointing out similarities is not the same thing as asserting an identity.

As an x pagan, I know that Wiccans are not Satanists.
I know that Wiccans do not even beleive in the Christian devil. (although Many Christians don't understand that)
I know that Jesus was probably not born on the 25th of December. I was a Pagan for many years before I became a Christian and now I have chosen to walk the path of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pagans brought evergreens in for Yule celebrations, possibly trees, but they did not decorate them for the same reasons ovbously as Christians so.
Christians do not celebrate winter solstice, but the Birth of Christ, even though its most likely on the wrong day. It dosent matter when His birth is celebrated, it matters that it is celebrated.

I became a Christian this past year, and even though I will be missing out on the Full moon ceremonies, and drumming ceremonies....I'm not taking my tree down.

The Christmas Tree has because they have become my family traditions. We go to Church, sing and Give thanks for him. We worship Jesus Christ, not through our trees, but through our voices and through giving our hearts to the Lord.
I used to worship the Moon, the plants, the earth and the sun, but now I worship the God wou created it all.

They both are self-indulgent and focused on the self which is playing right into the hands of Satan. This is the opposite of Christianity in which we are called to be focused on God and self-denying for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven and helping the poor without wanting to take any personal credit for it.

A long time ago, I used to study Wicca and satanic books (at first I thought I was reading about witchcraft) before I realized that they are fundamentally the same just in a different package. Around that time, I also had a vision of Hell in a dream and realized that I was going to end up there if I didn't change my life drastically. I did an about face, and started looking into Christianity.

After a lot of soul searching and study and observation of different kinds of Christianity, I decided to become Catholic. Now, I've been Catholic for over 12 years, and I am very happy being Catholic. I will die a Catholic when God calls me home one day.

Great point! Also, christians should stop celebrating Halloween alltogether and wearing masks. They shouldn't light bonfires, since it's an act of worshipping the sun deity. And so on and so on. Face it, christianity is one plagiate of different pagan beliefs. Even the central figure, crucified significant person of power, predates christianity.

I support your effort wholeheartedly. I'm a pagan, even though i'm not a wiccan. But anyway, good luck and blessed be.

Edit: I think Katy O above me just brilliantly proved your point. Behold, oh readers, the not-so-fair-example. And laugh.

As an x pagan, i understand that Wiccans are no longer Satanists. i understand that Wiccans do no longer even have self assurance in the Christian devil. I researched Wicca for a on an identical time as in the previous transforming into a Pagan, i in my opinion had many Wiccan principals in my perception gadget, yet i did no longer persist with the suggestions-blowing Wiccan direction, I accompanied greater of a my community American Pagan lifestyle. I certainly have considering substitute right into a Christian, and that i now no longer worship nature, I worship the superb God who created all of it. It feels large. do no longer decide all Christians on how a number of them manage you. we are all created equivalent, and no-you could actually seem down on you. Judgement isn't some thing that Jesus Christ taught. He taught us to be loving and compassionate and to teach the worldwide his Love.

Some people are just straight-up ignorant and are okay with that. I feel sorry for them as it must be a dull and boring life to never be willing to seek out any enlightenment, but then I get on with my day and realize that I'm happy with who I am and I know the truth, and that's all that really matters in the end.
