Thats about 14 pounds a week, or 2 pounds a day. That would mean you would have to burn an extra 7000 calories per day. The average person burns about 150 calories per mile, so you would have to run about 45 miles a day, or do exercise equivalent to that. If you eat nothing and don't exercise you will burn about 2000 calories, so that won't even scratch the surface. It depends a lot on your size though. For people over 400 pounds it can be done, because you could lose 2 pounds a day by just walking maybe 10 or 15 miles, and eating about 1200 calories.

I think it is great that you are considering losing weight. That is the first giant step that many cannot take.
80lb is a rather large weight to loose in such short time, and will likely to pose you health risks. Goal seems to be un-achievable, and you will be depressed and demotivated when 6 weeks pass.
Consider small steps that you can achieve. Also, try to change your lifestyle. Your goal of losing 80lb is probably achievable but takes time. But, I will recommend to change the goal to cloth size once you are getting close to your healthy weight because you may be very healthy and acquire athletic figure with some muscles, which weight heavier.
This is what you can do to start
Meals:
- Have 6 small meals a day. (Keep yourself from starving, which leads to uncotrolled larger meal)
- Study Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load on the web to make smart choice on the food.
- Measure "once serving" to understand how much you should be really eating each meal.
- Do not diet to starve yourself. You will gain back your weight even more (because you will lose your muscle)
Exercise:
- Start registance training (weight training)
- Start walking (or runing, biking, take dance class or anything).

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Chop off both of your legs.
You are ridiculous. A healthy amount of weight loss is 2-3 pounds per week. On a healthy diet, that is.
