with loyalty to God, confusing the Christian faith with the religion of American patriotism? Paul does not encourage this type of patriotism in his writings. While urging civil obedience, he refers to believers as "aliens and strangers" in an ungodly world. He understood that the Christian's citizenship is in heaven, not among the countries of the earth. We serve (and are loyal to) the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. No other allegiance is as important as our commitment to God. We may feel blessed for living in America, but I doubt that we will feel any patriotic allegiance when we realize that our true commitment has belonged to God all the time. Standing before Christ, we will look around and see that He has blessed people from every part of the world, throughout history. We will realize that (like the Sabbath) nations were created to serve man and not the other way around.

Why are those who are against undocumented workers trying to justify their racism with what Paul said about obeying the authorities? Did not Paul disobey the authorities by preaching about Christ? Did not Jesus disobey the authorities by not following the Sabbath laws the Pharisees had imposed?

Because they are sheeple and believe anything that comes out of the mouth of those that they allowed to take over this country, take us to war, destroy our standing in the World, and for the first time in my life, the World was laughing at the greatest country that has ever existed . . . The United States Of America.

They still cannot see how this administration used religion and God in the most obscene ways.

Any real Christian should have seen through the lies, and I believe they did, as I know I did. I'm not sitting on a pew every Sunday but I do believe in God and believe that he gave his only son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. I could live my life more Christ like and I should, but I am human.

These Religious-Right Extremists are to busy worshiping B*** at his alter of power, blood, and oil. I learned a long time ago never trust a preacher that lives better than his congregation.

I think you are not reading the whole book. Laws were meant to be obeyed unless they conflict with God's Laws.
We already learned God had boundaries and the stranger of foreigner were to follow or be cast out among them.
I don't believe any Nation is favored by God but people are.
But he did lay down the rules--and that meant to follow the laws of the land. No where did Jesus tell the people not to follow Government laws--No where. He didn't say you have the right to fight them neither.
I really think you need to read the whole book-Paul even used his Roman Citizenship to appeal to his peers--he knew the Laws of his country.
I can't give you a whole lesson on the whole book-better read it on your own time.

The lord knows that we as people on this earth understand the concept of law. The lord has an understanding of borders and boundaries. This is shown in his gift of land to the Jews. The lords gifts are divine in nature. If the lord sees that land is a gift, then the lord can certainly see why Americans feel so strongly about their nation and hence draw an association between the two.

You know, before I read your additional comments, I was going to give you credit for an excellent question and give you a thoughtful answer. However, your additional comments calling people racists for not supporting illegal aliens entering our country at will just made you a complete idiot.

In any event, I will answer the actual question, which sounded sane, and not the rant of some liberal whack job.

I think you find Americans combining faith and patriotism because faith is such an intergral part of the founding of this country, namely the Judeo-Christian faith. Does this make it right? Not necessarily. But since this country was founded on religious freedom, it makes those who benefit from that freedom love their country more, especially in contrast to so many other countries and governments that do not have such freedom in expressing their faith.

You're absolutely right, we will recieve no special crowns in glory for being United States Christians. But when your country stands up for your right to worship God, you tend to be willing to reciprocate by devoting yourself to the support and ideals of that country in question.

By the way, when did the apostle Paul EVER encourage civil disobedience? Quite the opposite, he wrote in one of his letters that we should pray for our governmental leaders, for they are in their positions of power under God's sovereign hand. So that part of your question is way off base. Must be the "race card" part of your brain in action.

I think you care WAY too much about "god".

In this day and age, I wish we could ALL just move on and stop letting ancient beliefs that have been disproven by science tear us all apart.

did you know that more people have fought, killed, and died in the name of their god than any other reason on earth since the dawn of time?

enough is enough people....

There is no old guy with a beard sitting in a chair watching us. There was no virgin birth. Allah is not controlling anything. Abraham never spoke to god.

Religion was invented to answer questions that science couldn't. It was also invented as a way to teach people to be good to eachother.

I don't care what religion u are - its time to get over it, wake up, move on - and most of all - STOP KILLING FOR IT!

Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's
And unto God, that which is God's

God does not like it when people invade a nation, steal identities, bankrupt the social service system, and have no gratitude.

"The greatest sin of all is the sin of ingratitude"

Coming into our country and demanding "rights" while waving the flag of their country of origin is HUGE INGRATITUDE.

He wants everyone to be good and obey the rules.

America has rules. Everyone has rules. Some have bad rules. But if we must abide by our rules then all must abide by the rules. It's called abiding by the law. It is a good thing. Without rules we would just be savages. Do you want to be a savage? I do not want to be a savage. My family does not want to be savages. My friends like law and order. So do I.

Enough said. SERMON OVER.

There are many scriptures that associate the man's law with being right. God also wants us to follow man's law, and also our nation was founded under God, so why not? Here are some helpful scriptures:

Matthew 23:17-22 - "Tell us, therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said,"Why do you test Me, you hypocrites? Show me the tax money." So they brought Him a denarius. And He said to them, "Whose image and inscription is this?" They said to Him, "Caesar's." And He said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God the things that are God's." When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way.

Galations 4:4-5 - But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might recieve adoption as sons.

*these also prove that an anarchist is not a Christian

What I'd like to know is why the catholic church is trying to undermine US immigration laws. The catholic church is a large and powerful entity, so big they have their own 'country' called the Vatican. In essence they are a law unto themselves within that realm, and they have churches all over the world. It's on the catholic agenda to see more population expansion. It just so happens there's a lot of horny people in mexico. It also just so happens that the catholic church doesn't run the United States.
Opportunity knocks.....?
