Depends on several factors. The receiver in the car (in some cases) can be "tweaked", or the same thing goes for the transmitter. The "better" antenna is a violable option at the transmitter though, as a "longer" ant. at the car may not be practical. It also depends in what RC band you are operating. The many CB RC channels are prone to interference in some areas and changing to a different channel may help. You can even "cheat" and not use the normal RC CB freqs. (4a,9a,11a,15a and 19a) and use a crystal pair on one of the higher and less used freqs. Such as in the 30's. Since in any case your out of band use (and intermittent at that) would go by with little or no notice. Ol' Fox Charlie Charlie is much too busy to even worry about it. There are far too many "out of banders" running way too much power etc. for them to even figure out what you are doing.

To increase the range of an R/C car: Use more wattage transmitting power or use directional antenna or do both. Better check with FCC to see if its legal.
