I have hip pain too, I thought it was inherited from my father, he's just had a hip replacement last year. I had an x-ray done after that because I also had mild hip pain that got better when I exercised. I went a saw a physiotherapist and now have exercises and stretches to do and it is helping. The muscles that hold the Greater Tricanter bone to the illiac Crest were "lumpy and tight". I have to do these stretches twice a day and the pain in greatly reduced.
Other patients I have dealt with suffer from osteoarthritis and joint problems please see you doctor and getan X-ray and referral to the physiotherapist to find out if your pain in muscular to joint/bone related.
It certainly has helped me.

Possibly arthritis. You don't say how severe the pain is. If you've had a hip fracture, it is doubtful you'd be able to stand at all. Of course you should see a Dr for a definitive answer. Remember this: "When your body talks-you'd better listen!"

Nerves clustered in your hip sending not pressure or temperature but pain signals.
Consult a trained professional, namely the doctor.

hip pain is due to putting excessive stress on it....if ur a bike rider, make sure that u tune ur shock absorbers and ur knees should be above the level of ur hip while driving(bikes like enticer)....if not the case, alter ur sitting posture so that u lean ur back properly and sit straight.....do exercises like bending and stretching which will solve ur pblm

Sciatica or arthritis.
Sciatica extends into the butt muscle as well and can sometimes extend down the calf muscle of the affected leg as well as to the ankle.
Talk to a doctor about it.
