I become good friends with him and they breakup in 6 months, to me it's become a waste of time.

While mutual friends between you and your wife are good when she has an unmarried friend it is hard to keep up with who is the current boyfriend and the old one. Be friends with them if you really like them as one can never have too many friends. If you don't like them then don't. You NEVER have to be friends with some one you don't like.

Yea, I had the same problem with my husband's good friend's girlfriend. It was bound to happen (she was such a ***** sometimes). We would go out on double dates a lot and it was a lot of fun. You can think of it however you want but honestly i've had so many people come and go in my life with college and changing jobs that I could say that many of those friendships were a waste of time since i'll probably never see many of those people again. I wouldn't go out of my way to go one on one with him but in a group situation you should just have a good time and who knows... maybe years down that road you'll all be like hey remember when we did ----- and yea you were dating that guy and ---- happend that was so crazy. Good luck!

You don't have to be friends with him but you need to be civil and if you get around to being friends and the couple breaks up...there is no rule that says you can't still be friends...by that time he is your friend

I don't know about all of that, but as a married couple you too should have mutual friends. Her friends should be yours and visa versa.

friends? no. but an air of civility will hurt noone, and probably save you unneeded aggravation from your wife.

The short answer is no. But there is no reason you should be hostile to him either.
