i am feeling great pain in my stomach and i think it may be a peptic ulcer, but can other things leak out of an ulcer besides the acid? Ive had stomach issues previously, like excess acid and other pains. It has really been bothering me and im going to the doctors tomorrw. but if i were to eat food could it hurt me? Is it going to get all blocked up in my stomach?

Think of an ulcer as a sort of abraison on the wall of your stomach. Acid does not come out of them acid causes them and irritates them. If an ulcer gets bad enough it can perforate (which believe me yours has not done or you would be calling 911 asap). No food can come out of your ulcer. You need to eat very bland foods and take some antacid like Maalox or Mylanta before eating. The doctor will probably suggest medication like Prilosec, Nexium, or Prevacid. These help ulcers by turning off the receptors in your stomach that produce the acid. When you are fully healed inside you can advance your diet a little and get back to normal, but if you are a person who's stomach produces a great amount of acid or if you are under alot of stress you may need to stay on the medication even after healing. I hope this helps, please don't go without food and see your doctor asap.

yes it is possible to eat and have food to leak from a ulcer however if you are hungry eat something that is easy to digest to avoid any more over production of acid like cerial or things of that nature and no it wont get blocked in your stomach so just watch what you eat and you should be fine.

no it won't I think it would be OK, as far as i know food does not come out of your ulcer, i have one and I ate, before going to the doctor, my stomach hurts me more if I don't eat, but try not to eat too much in case the doctor needs to take some test, try eating something lite..

No, blood may seep out of an ulcer (Mine bleeds badly when I'm really upset), but never food.
