Generally I enjoy going to church. But once on Easter I went to an out-of-town church and the preacher told of his recent visit to Germany where he visited old concentrations camps and really saw hatred for the first time. It was all rather touching until he paused and said, "Then I realized that if they had just believed and worshiped Jesus Christ, they would have been saved from all this suffering."

About ten years ago I went to visit a church with a relation. The place felt evil and outside there was an upside down cross made on the floor with raindrops. But it wasn't raining. As I was travelling back the opposite way it was still upside down. Place was creepy. Felt like I was being watched.

Listening to the sermons full of crapola.

Kneeling for prayer [OW!]

Being whisked off to the 'children's part' where I sat there coloring Moses purple while talking to none of the other children

Hearing people being refused help because they weren't 'holy' enough. What a scam. People would donate to help the needy who attended church. Well, when the actual needy went for help they weren't 'holy' enough..deal is they weren't rich enough. So, in turn, they turned down the needy and the rich never needed help so they kept for themselves. Disgusting.

Someone farted in the pew right next to me once, but the worst experiences were listening to the boring sermon. I didn't actually believe but my parents made me go till I was 16.

I would say my worst one was when I was a Catholic and I went to my first confession. I had been molested and the Father made it sound like it was all my fault and wanted all the details. I will never forget that as long as I live.

One time I went to a catholic church and was told I couldn't take the communion with everyone else because I didn't belong there. I didn't know that they had this rule so I was a little embarrassed.

I listened to a minister talk about AIDS being a punishment for sin. It took me a while to realize that this was one man's opinion. Sadly enough many people do believe that as well. I had to learn to think independently and realize that it is acceptable to not agree with everything a pastor or minister says.

I had a migraine and I had to sit outside in the hallway where it was quiet for a while. I was so upset that I couldn't hear the sermon, but my head was so painful and I felt dizzy. I felt sick that morning, but I really wanted to go so badly.
But everybody was so kind to me as they always are at that place. I'm so grateful for that church.
