You can download SpyBot from http://www.download.com/ It comes with a tool to control your start up (among other things that it can do).

i in my view favor living house windows 7 because it is better solid and helps larger spec hardware a number of that could't be run with XP... I under no circumstances had XP boot in lower than 15 seconds like my living house windows 7 machines. i am going to run each and each and every of the present application and video games with out having to be stricken if it is properly ideal with XP.

Do you have some spyware/trojans trying to re-download themselves by hidden .exe?

It can be tricky, removing those.

I suggest going to www.cnet.com and download this program called "a-squared" You can use the full professional version for 1 month, and it pretty much removes anything that attempts to edit registry data. If this dosen't work, you'll have to shut it down manually, then remove it by hand.

Do you NOT want to use msconfig? Or is it not insatlled on your computer? I can send u a copy if u email me.
Otherwise, go here:

Tune up Utilities will run on Win2K, and has a Start-up manager that can do the job

Often you can go to the programs preferences and disable from starting with windows. Depends on the program.
