Bubble tea was first started in Taiwan, and I just love it! There're many kinds of bubble tea (hot, cold, slush, smoothie). My favorite kind is taro root, which is purple in color. I'm in Canada also, and it's also very popular here. There're several bubble tea shops in my city and I'd visit it often, especially now that it's summer.

Yup i LOVE the stuff. I like strawberry and honeydew the best. It's super popular here in Hawaii and we have a ton of flavors like lychee, mango, taro, we even have milk but I've never tried the milk flavor. Theres a local company that makes it here and you can buy kits to make it at home. I've made it before but the tapioca balls take like an hour to boil.

Blah! About 4 or 5 years ago it was HUGE in Buffalo, then it just fizzled out. I thought it was disgusting. Most of the bubble tea shops went out of business.
It is especially nasty when the end of your straw gets globbed up with the balls and then they all fly up the straw all at once and you have a mouth full of squishy slimy tapioca balls. EWWWW! It is like sucking up large fish eggs in an artificially tasting liquid.

There's a place in Chinatown in Houston that serves Vanilla Jasmine Tea flavored. So good. Love it. I had some really bad bubble tea in Singapore. I had hoped it would be great...
