We are, after all, human........sin (as the church dictates it to be) is part of our inherent make up.
Agreed, the Ten Commandments are a fair guideline to live ones life by anyone's standards, but what about the rest ?
It is our nature to be petty, judgmental, self absorbed, critical, jealous and all the other little idiosyncracies that make us human. Granted, we can try and change and recognise our behaviour, but I don't think there would be a person walking this earth who hasn't "sinned" and will continue to do so until the day they day ......so what is one to do?

How was Jesus free of sin? If he was just a man (which he was - human like the rest of us) then he was not free of sin

Only as infants and very small chlidren, therefore unaware of what's right and wrong are we "sinless". A child comes into this world unblemished, like a blank slate or a computer with 100% unused memory. As we mature and learn right from wrong are we prone to commit "sin". As we mature and understand that we are responsible for our own actions then and only then can we be true sinners. The only thing we can control in this world is ourselves, thus free will comes into play. It's a great feeling to know right from wrong and choose to do the right thing!

There is no way we can live a sinless life...which is why we need a savior. The only person who was sinless was Jesus... He lived as a human and found out what it really felt like to have the temptations we face, as well as pain and suffering, and then had His own Father turn away from Him at the cross when He suffered for our sins.
Of course we sin....it's been like that since Adam in the garden. Does it make it any less grievous to God? Nope. But we can try to turn away...repent...and not do the sins again... If you lie..stop. If you comitted adultery..keep your pants on and away from another's mate, etc etc...it's pretty simple in philosophy. ;)
We do not as Christians have to keep the law to be saved... That is what changed when Jesus died for us...we are saved by Grace..not by works.

Jesus was not just a man.
Jesus is fully man and fully God.
Jesus possesses a human soul as well as a divine nature.
As Jesus is truly God, sin is not part of his divine nature, and is actually impossible for him.
As Jesus is a perfect man, untouched by sin and guided by his divine nature in all things, he was able to resist all temptation and live a sinless life.
We're not God and we're steeped in sin from birth, so all we can do is be contrite and repentant, and repeatedly ask God for his forgiveness and grace.
The best and most effective way to do this is through the sacraments of the Catholic Church, which were established by Christ, especially for this purpose.

No it is not mans nature to be petty, etc. It is mans nature to be the wonderful and loving child of God. To live aright is hard, one must guard daily against sin. the easiest way to start living a life of non sin, is to know that you don't have to sin, it is a choice, and if you live with just the first commandment in you heart and soul, you will not break the rest. Should you sin, asking for forgiveness is great place to start, then you must live up that that request no not sin again for the rest of your life. But God, being God, will forgive you cause you are his beloved creation, and He made you for Him, not the other way around.
You are not a sinning mortal, if you don't want to be!

If you follow God's commandments and Jesus examples of love you will be doing youself a lot of good and it will give you the chance to forget of the petty and sinful thigns.
Yes we are born in sin.
It is hard these days to be good when so much bad is done by satan's attacks. Dont forget when you get a bad thought or want to do something not good , who is talking to you. Satan has a way with poeple speically now as you can see worldwide.
So be strong in yr faith. TRUST GOD ONLY AND JESUS WORDS, read the Bible and you will come out better than you even realize.
We absorb our environemnt, people who taught us eithe wrong or good, we are product of conditioning and genetics.

It is impossible to not sin, hence the 'forgiving God'. I have yet to go a day without some kind of minor infraction, let alone my entire life. I just know that God is forgiving and try to avoid sinning as much as possible. I don't do the big stuff but I slip on the little stuff. I think at this point, God is looking for people who are TRYING not to sin and succeeding as best one can. Good question!!

Everyone sins. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Christ died for our sins & was the only perfect man who walked the earth. We must believe in Him and we will not perish, but have everlasting life. Our job as Christians is like mission work. We should try to live right and help others to become Christians. We should not judge others, because we all sin. God will be the judge.

I wonder where you got the notion that leading a sinless life was a requirement of something. Sin is something that separates us from God. For a believer, it causes a rift in the personal relationship. It is remedied by repentance. ( Repentance does not just mean saying you are sorry - it means turning away from the sin. )Jesus already took the blame for the sins, so at this point, we pray in Jesus's name. God sees us as pure saints. (The blood He shed made us white as snow.) We are made strong in our weakness. That is one of the perks of the relationship. Now, for the non-believer...there is a larger problem.

Read The Course in Miracles. We have to define "sin" correctly. The Course, the latest revelation from Christ, tells us we have much wrong. Turns out sin is separation from God. Sin as defined by the culture is of no concern to God - it is just man made- rules.

Thats why he sent his son Jesus Christ to die for you. So that you could still sin but not be condemed to an eternity in Hell. So all you have to do is admit your need for a savior and try your best to live like Christ! And when you mess up....which will happen ALOT repent for those sins!
