I'm a middle child and some of the stereotypes ring true .. .other's don't.
I've read about middle children and how they often have the sense of not belonging. They fight to receive attention from parents and others. Being in the middle a child can feel insecure (think Jan from the Brady Bunch).

Yes i am a middle child of 6, when i was younger my older brothers and sister were able to go out with there friends but i could not. then here i am 17 and had a younger brother and sister and yet they were able to go out, so as usual i ask why. my mom always use to say well the older ones were older and when it came to the younger ones well i'm too old now so i'm not that strict anymore. So in the long run i got tired of all the excuses and left home.

I am a middle child. I did have problems with it when I was a kid. Older brother tried to be annoying. Younger brother was spoiled and stubborn. I just wanted to get along with everyone.

My older brother became more mature and distant even though the three of us are two years apart each. He grew up quick. So, I really started to miss him. He went off to the Air Force (is a Major now) and only recently am I getting to know him better. We are becoming more like brothers again.

His kids are cool. I don't feel the need to have any since he's been cranking 'em out.

Yeah I was the middle child and only girl. The only problem I have is that I grew up being the mediator, and I still tend to fulfill that role today. Also, I can never make up my mind where I want to eat - I always let other people make the decision.

Im a middle child and the only problem is not enough attention. The little one being cute and the oldest misbehaving. And where am I? Stuck in the middle.

i have 4 children and 3 step children... so, that's 5 middle kids. yep, they seem to have all kinds of competition issues, and self doubt. i would recommend therapy. 3 of the 5 middles have the same therapist and really enjoy using him as a sounding block. he helps them with their coping skills, and has taught them different ways of expressing themselves. the middle children have problems expressing how they feel without giving an example of what an older or younger child has done. it's tough, but enjoy your childhood. things will never be this simple again!

I'm a middle child. I had a lot of problems with it growing up, but now that I'm on my own things are ok. Things were never really that bad, but little things got on my nerves a lot.

My sister is a middle child- She really struggles. She is always saying that she is one of my parents' favorite. She also gets really territorial about her friends & if I talk to them. She does alot of comaring herself to the other siblings. You can find information about this on the internet. Birth order & family relationships are very interesting.
