A black residue has started to appear on the vent of my air conditioner. How can this be fixed?

it is a frigidaire, and the residue sort of looks like soot, but im not too sure what it is, i haven;t used it since, and my room is pretty hot.

clean it with soap and water OR bleach and water and dont forget to clean the filter too

Look up black mold on the internet. Hopefully, for your sake, you're not one of those with a sensitivity to it.

Bleach and water will help.

Maybe you should clean the vents and remove the dust, dirt, condensation, mold, and mildew.
