Take her to the emergency room. You're going to face an investigation if you do not.

The obvious answer it to take her to the doctor or emergency room... But it's not always that simple... Cost and consideration come into play and while it could be argued that any time a child receives injury that the greatest efforts need to be made to ensure a swift and full recovery, there are times when you can go overboard as well.

First, you need to make a diagnosis of the child's condition... Here's a simple checklist to reference to:

1) Is there a rupturing of skin? Bleeding? Deep lacerations?
2) Does the child retain full movement within the affected limbs?
3) Any headwounds or injuries? Dizziness? Disorientation?
4) How severe was the incident? Any possibility of internal bleeding or trauma?
5) How severe is the associated pain? Any symptoms of shock?

If there is a question to any of these, it would be best to seek medical care. No matter the cost or problems caused, it is best to ensure the child's healthy existance.

But, if they child fell down and bruised an arm and leg... And nothing more... There are drawbacks to overreaction, the worst of which is the draining of medical resources away from those who truly do need it.

It is your call to make, but it *is* always better to err on the side of caution....

Hi! In the first place what we need to know is; when did she fall? Where did the fall took place? Which part of her body has "blue-blacks"? Did she knock herself against her head? If yes, then which part of the head did she knock against? Is there any bleeding from the nose? Did she vomit after the fall? Is there any fever? Whatabout any unusual behaviour as compared to before her fall; such as inactiveness? Loss of appetite? These are some of the vital things which we need to know in order to establish the degree of seriousness and the possibilities of danger faced by her before taking her to a doctor. What we are worried is, if she did knock against her head then there may be a concussion on her skull which is very serious and dangerous. This requires immediate medical attention as it may cost her her life. Beside that, as our brain is a "commanding centre" of our body system, it may also affect her visual power, hearing ability and/or memory. All these may be detected by performing the necessary test by a doctor. However, if the fall resulted in only superficial bruises then by applying "zambuck" or "zambak" (not sure of the spelling) should be able to help subside ver a few days or so. Please avoid rubbing on the swell as it may aggravate it even more. You may choose to take her to a doctor for medical assistance. Well.....Hope the above is helpful. Just a little sharing.....

A 'fall' rarely makes different parts of the body swollen and blue-black, as you probably know. Consider getting help. Meanwhile, take her to ER to make sure she's going to be okay.

What parts of her body are black-blue? How large of an area? Does it impede her doing anything? If it is not that serious, then don't take her, but watch her, If it is serious, then by all means take her.

On the other hand, I have found that a product called Tiger Balm, red in color, will speed up the healing process of bruises.

Unless there is an actual medical emergency at this moment, take her to the doctor tomorrow. If you take her to the ER, they may file a report with the police. And you'll be charged an exorbitant amount of money which your insurance (if you have any) will stick you for.

Definately put ice packs on the areas for about 20 min. or untill numb. Elevate the areas above her heart (have her lie down and put a pillow or something underneath the area). Also bandage any cuts or scrapes and take her to the doctor as soon as you can.

Well the right thing to do is to get her to a doctor. I find it interesting that you have to ask. I'm betting it crossed your mind that if you take her to a doctor that you will be thought to be abusing her. Some world we live in where we have to think about stuff like that over the welfare of our children. Lawyers are responsible for this.

Take her to the doctor. If there were a serious problem, you'd want to get it dealt with ASAP. If not, it won't cost a fortune for your peace of mind.
