OH, man... Yes, I took effexor, but I hated it. I'm not on anything now. From what I understand, sometimes you need to try a few different drugs to see which one works best for you. Definitely tell your doctor! Also... I strongly believe talk therapy helps.

I'm on effexor xr and have been for about 3 months and it's working great....but I think I am on a low dose...I think maybe you should discuss this with your doctor...I'm certain they have things that can help....don't ever change your dosage by yourself..this can be a dangerous drug to try to change doses alone..get a doctors help

Almost all meds will stop working after some amount of time. Your body gets used to it and so you need to try something else.
I used Effexor for almost 3 years and just recently switched to Cymbalta-- which is working really well for me.
Talk to your doc about it and ask about switching to another med.

Actually, Ive tried almost EVERY antidepressant out there, including EFFEXOR and nothing works for me the way it use to. Hope that by switching to another medication it will solve your problem.

one of the major side effects of effexor is recurring depression (go figure) and suicidal ideations. so you could just be having one of the side effects. you may want to try either switching from effexor to an SSRI (antidepressant) such as prozac or zoloft or lexapro, or try just taking your effexor in combination with an SSRI. oftentimes, we see alot of patients on effexor and celexa (SSRI). it works pretty good for keeping the edge off. you may want to talk to your doctor about these feelings and see what is best for you.

This happened to me but I was able to up the dosage. However, it then happened again. My doctor recommended counseling and I was VERY skeptical. I went to a christian counselor who was wonderful and that helped so much that I actually am now starting to decrease my dosage (at the recommendation of my doctor due to the positive impact of counseling). Could you start counseling? It helped me a lot!

I've been taking it for 2 years and am on high doses and it works well still. Do you take it in the morning ? you are supposed to or it can disrupt sleep. If you drink alcohol it can effect it )or other recreational drugs). I know of someone it didn't work well for who got switched to another AD and now is OK...Good luck as that stuff turned my life around for the better.

I take effexor, have for 2 years, no problems. It could be your body is used to this and you need to consult with your medical practitioner to see what other options you may have for other medications.

Effexor only gave me a headache but Lexapro works well, and I still swear by prozac.
