From experience I know, that you never fully get over it. You will be able to get on with other things, relationships, and life, but there will always be a part of that person in you. My X left me (after 14 years together) with 3 children. To keep my emotions in check whenever I saw her, I pulled the old MAN trick, and forced myself to hate her. I no longer hate her, but I have no feelings for her either. I do not want to be her friend because she turned into something I would never be friends with, A Drunk. That is why she left. I am married now to the most wonderful woman in the WORLD, and have started another family, but I still feel part of my X from time to time. Never fully gone, but not controlling my emotions anymore. Love is as strange as it is wonderful.

It takes a lot of time, gaining your self respect and realizing there was a reason the relationship failed and it gives you a new chance and fresh start to find someone that will last and love you the way you deserve to be loved. It takes time, focus on yourself and enjoy life best you can, each day it will get better.

Keep yourself busy with friends (they love you!), and with new pursuits. Get rid of reminders of the ex. Don't call them! Do whatever you can to not see or hear from them for a while. You can do it!

You process the reason for the breakup.....get to know urself all over again.....and move on......pretty simple in theory....but in practice, its hard........Good luck....email if u need a friend....I'm struggling with that myself....even though I've now got what I call the perfect man.......I still think about a guy I used to be with....he's gone now though....passed away a year ago......

Learn to let go. Allow yourself to mourn. Ask yourself why it didn't work, and then ask yourself aren't I worth more? Finally, as in all things, time does offer some balm to the wounded soul. This may or may not be your first love, but honey believe me, it won't be your last.

takes awhile. just do not rush into anything. if anything, you should focus on you and do be out looking. That is when the time someone will just come into your life.
