Rape has absolutely nothing to do with sex, it's all about power. Men, and women, do this because they feel powerless or because someone did it to them in their past. Often times these people seem completely normal or even charming but they are dangerous. Therapy may help but a rapist often becomes serial and commits the crime again and again. it depends on the situation stranger- rape, date- rape, aquaintace- rape or even i've been with this person for a year and we have a sexual relationship but this last time i turned him/her down but they didn't stop- rape.....i don't know if that fits under date- rape or not anyway i think at some point the idea emerges with a twinge of a thrill. That would be the accidental "she wanted it we were already messing around, shirt was up, pants open....." but not honey some people think just going that far is fun enough for that instance or for always with you. It is a power trip thing like a fix, like other forms of violence it comes down to an "I CAN so i will". I guess for other forms of rape the twinge of a thrill starts early and early to include the thrill of the idea and the thrill of the hunt. Like the if people only knew what i was really doing right now rush if you know what i mean on that one....like sneaking around to smoke or do whatever when you shouldn't.

Okay let me first say that women do in fact rape also.
But as for ur question why does rape happen, i have learned in my rape support groups that its more of a power thing then a sexual thing. Its the need to be in control of the situation and otherpeople. ITs sick and something one never gets over or forgets. SOme of the bastards who replied to ur question need their asses kicked just as much as the men in this world who do in fact rape. That is nota joking matter nor a subject to play around and toy with. I hope u get the answers u are looking for.

Current ideas beleive it's because they feel a lack of power in some aspect and the rape is actually an attempt to gain power. I, personally don't know, I've never had the desire to rape a woman. I guess you should ask a rapist.

I think men or anyone else for that matter rape for power and or revenge aganist things that happen in their life that they could not control, like bad mothers or they could have been moslested when they were young. I know this is not an excuse for them but if so they are victims too.

Because that is one advantage they feel they have over women.
They think that raping is one way they can deprive a woman of her dignity.
I hate men who want to be agressive that way. It is such a stupid and a disgraceful thing for a man to do.

Men only rape woman because they are insecure about the way others see them. They feel as if they are viewed as weak and powerless.....and as a result they are easily depressed and easily enraged. Whenever the man feels as if the woman is rejecting......he takes it as he is not man enough....and as a result he tries to prove himself strong by dominating the woman and showing her that he is powerful. It is hardly anything sexual....it is just dominance and power.....only an insecure man would hurt a woman.

i'm a male, but i dont rape females.
now if your question means why do people rape others, then yes, it may be a power thing, or a severely distorted view of sexuality
