Here is a website that mentions the sources. If you are curious read it and decide for yourself.
http://www.tombofjesus.com/
I looked at the sources and here's what I think.....Eastern nations (like China and India) got a hold of Jewish literture when the Jewish nation was exiled in Babylon and Persia (that's how the wise men knew who Jesus was and why they brough him 3 gifts) Also right after Jesus ascended to heaven in Israel, his follwers were scattered by the persecution of the Jews and Romans. Some of them went East. So, the idea of Messiah (from the exile) and the idea that identified Jesus as the Messiah (from teh scattered Christians) and his messengers were sons of God who shared the world with unbelievers were accepted by some afluent relgions types in the East and apapted into what the already believed. This is why you see it in Hindu, Chinese, and pseudo-christian (liek the gospel of thomas) writings. They took historical truths from the Christian faiths and adapted them into their own so it would be more widely accepted. The muslim sources are even easier because muslim (occuring 600 years after Jesus died) is corrupted Christianty plus a conqueros mindset. So all writings by Muslims on anyhting of the Christian faith cannot be trusted.
The truth is that Jesus died, rose from the dead, and ascened to heaven. He is God because only God could rise from the dead. It's historically and archelogically supported.

I've read about that! I thought it was interesting. There's a tomb and everything. And didn't his mother Mary also go to Kashmir according to that legend? From what I understand there are Hindu, Muslim, & Chinese manuscripts that support this and they all call him Yuz Asaf.
After the cucifiction he stayed with the Apostles for 40 days and then left. According to these manuscripts, he travelled what would have been the Silk Road to India and taught in Kashmir where he later died.

Their line of thinking is painfully obvious. India obviously wants to be yet another 3rd world country to have some type of major research going on that will bring them global attention. I think that there are much better ways to make money than making bombastic and erroneous claims such as these in an obviously bad attempt simply to get researchers to come and pay them for the right to see if they're claims are justified. It's scandalous and wreaks of a 'Bosnian Pyramid' type of scam.
Jesus may have existed, but he certainly wasn't the son of God, more along the line of Muhammad and started the world's largest religion. Still, here's a site if you're interested. http://www.tombofjesus.com/home.htm
