The colour blue. Yes, I am serious. The colour blue was our mascot. I can just imgine the discussion that took place to come up with that for a school mascot.
"Gee Frank, we need a mascot."
"Well, Bill, I am partial to bulldogs, what do you think?"
"No, I think they are too aggressive."
"Okay how about a badger?"
"Too sneaky."
"A goat?"
"Too dirty."
"How about blue then?"
"Blue what?"
"Just blue."
"You mean the colour blue?"
"Yes, I mean the colour blue."
"Well we will look like complete idiots to the school board, the students, their parents and pretty much everyone in the world, but yes, let's make our mascot, the colour blue."

The high school that I graduated from is the Generals. They used to have a girl ride around on a horse in a general uniform, but now they have a regular mascot with the huge head and outfit.

The high school I graduated from were Colts (or Fillies for the girls' teams). I also went to a high school where the mascot was a Blue Raider (and the girls' teams were Lady Raiders). But the thing that didn't make sense was that our mascot was a big, eagle-like blue bird. When I played softball, we called ourselves the Lazy Raiders... he he he.

We were the Lions (they even had a real lion as the on field mascot for a couple of years--but found that the care and maintainace on an animal of this type was extremely complicated and soon came to doing the right thing and placed the guy into a really good wildlife refuge thing where he was taken care of very well indeed)

We were the Cherokees, but then we had to change to a more politically correct name so, now we are the Hurricanes.
